Traffic Exchanges Do They Work?

This is something new to me .. in fact I only found out about it a few minutes ago when reading another discussion .. I haven't yet had time to see how they work and what it entails, but I'm hoping it will be of use for getting referals .. at least I assume that's what folks use them for .. so I shall be checking out the ones listed here .. many thanks for that
