This morning the front pages of all our SA newspapers are the reports on Yesterday's temperature reaching record HIGH'S of 44,6?C and today might be a 43,7?C kind of day with our minimum temperatures at 23,6?C . . . we are melting!! THIS IS 112,7?F !! In a country like ours, where the rainfall is needed to sustain the wild life and the farm crops, it is tragic to see the sun beating down on the land and having no remorse. RAIN is needed, please send us your unwanted rain . . . any which way you can! There are the tips on how to protect yourself in these warming conditions: *Postpone all intense sporting sessions (so no bowling for me today) *Head for indoors over the time zones of 11h00 till 15h00. *Drink small portions of water throughout the day. Keep Hydrated. *Wear loose fitting clothing, sunglasses and extra UV protection cream. *Do not leave small children, dogs and old people in any vehicle - NOT even for a minute! Have you had hot days like this? we are into our 4th for the week but hopefully someone in Ireland, or London, or USA will blow us some rain! *

Hello Lany, it's been raining all day here so I could send you some. 44C is no joke, I well recall being stuck in a traffic jam in town with the temp signs flashing 44 as I poured ice water over my head.

Good morning Katerina - its been too long since I said morning to you - The heat has subsided to a low 38*C the last two days with winds blowing clouds all over the show - but no rain for us in our area. Too many sinners as my daughter says

It was awful, Lany. Thank goodness my suburb has gotten some blessed rain at last! With hail, but not huge hail, but enough to cool things down a little. I hope you have also gotten some cooling rain by now @Inlemay !

There is an abundance here you are more than welcome to our share. Barry likes to keep most of the rain up there so I doubt he will send you his share. He needs it for his webbed feet and feather coat.

The same tips our Government published last summer, the hottest since temperature are recorded here in Switzerland. Some locations reached 47º, we also had more than the 23º during the night and this was the worst, impossible to sleep.

Oh my! That's a little bit toasty:) No, we have never had temperatures like that in the UK. We almost broke the record last summer when we nudged 37.3C.

I'd be happy to trade my rainy day for some of your sun. It's been miserable lately and we've had too much rain compared to your too little. Seems as if the world is either getting too much or not enough lately

If I left my dog in the car at the moment it would be more likely to drown. Stay safe!

No wonder you are melting. It is very difficult to stay cool under such conditions. Have you seen those things you can put round your neck that are supposed to cool you off? Maybe they go in the fridge for a while first but they are supposed to help.

Those temperatures sound ridiculously hot. Where you are is breaking records for record temperatures and where we are is breaking records for record rainfall. If only there was some way we could even it out...
