What the heck is happening in this photograph?

Before you read my text, check the photo. Does it make any sense? What's your first guess as to what the heck is going on? I worked four mornings at my friend's preschool last week. They know I love fixing toys that break at the preschool. In this case, it was a wooden castle that broke in two. I had to sand down the broken edges and glue down the splintered wood. Then I used my Elmer's wood glue to glue the two halves back together. I used spring-loaded clamps to hold things together, and also weighted things together with one of my restored vintage loudspeakers. I did the final gluing last night before I went to bed so I wouldn't be tempted to mess with it before it had a chance to dry. I'll go take my little "sculpture" apart now and see if it held.

Before reading the remainder of your text I have to say it looks like the speaker is recharging itself in a primitive battery. Back to the text... Ah OK. That is why the speakers look as if they are recharging themselves.

Ah, good one! Those clamps do remind me of jumper cable terminations as well.

It's a wacky one. I use whatever I have around the house to fix things.

Yep, I was just trying to fix a toy. I'm not sure if they've used it yet.

I had no idea what was going on in that picture until I read your post. It's great that you are able to fix the toys for the preschool children. I hope it stayed together once it was dry.

It felt strong when I took it back to the preschool, but I'm not sure that it's been put back into service yet.

Thanks! So far so good. I have to be patient now, as I have another little sculpture going. Then I have a little staircase to glue in.

I guessed exactly that when I saw the pic. The wood glue on the side clued me in. lol Hope it stays together! :-)

Thanks! I took everything apart this morning (removed all the clamps), and things look good. We'll have to kid test it later this week.

@missjessicadawn We'll see what happens. I think it should be as good as new. But this isn't a very rugged design.

The only thing I could guess were the loudspeakers. They are identical to ones I have stored in one of my closets for ages

If they have real wood veneer, they could have some value! Do you know what they're called?

So far so good. One staircase to go. The staircase should actually provide additional stability to the repair.

I thought it was the speaker that you had clamped. Got that wrong.

That was so nice of you to help your friend's preschool by fixing the wooden castle. I recognized your speakers in the picture, but I couldn't figure out what the pink parts were, until I read your post!

I had no idea what it was until I blew up the photo and could see it properly. Even then I wouldn't have known without your telling us, though the glue was a good clue. I hope it worked ok.

It really does look that way! I'm not charging anything, and I'm not making a bomb-clock. The speaker is just weighting down some glue I put in the night before.
