Day without coffee

Day without coffee I know I drink way too much coffee and today I’ve decided I would try and go without coffee. Not sure how much coffee I do drink each day but I know it’s a lot. I will drink coffee from getting up to going to bed. I must admit I didn’t know how long I will last during today before I give in and get myself a coffee or two, three. I went out and bought some green tea to drink so here goes. Could you go without coffee for a day?

Husband used to drink nothing but coffee, morning, noon and night. Then he suddenly stopped and it created a myriad of issues ... not least, that it stopped suppressing his kidney failure. Very bizarre.

Oh wow very bizarre indeed. Nothing happened to me yet although I could do with a coffee but I'm not, not yet at least.

@poppylicious so are you saying coffee helped or didn't help his kidney failure?

I would not even attempt a full day without coffee. I could probably manage without until about 11 AM, but not if I was awake before 10-50 AM.

I would get a cup you can measure and track how much you drink, the next day cut that down by a bit and then taper yourself down more over time

Thanks, just count the number of cup drank. I didn't make it all day along, I gave in about 2 hour before I went to bed lol.

@Jessicalynnt What I'm going to do is see how much I drink during the rest of the week to give me a better picture of it all, then go from there.

@kevin1877uk if you have a liquid measuring cup, figure out how much is in your coffee mug, and then yeah track today/ Tomorrow, track it too, but cut it down a little, and just keep that up, OR start slowly mixing in decaff.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but my late X drank it by the pot. It was always on. I don't think he ever went without coffee.

Sure - no problem for me. I don't actually like the taste of coffee (or tea) - never drink either. Fortunately for my husband I quite like the smell of coffee. Not sure how well my husband would cope on a day without coffee. Oh, and you do realise that green tea also contains caffeine? Just thought I'd mention in case it was the caffeine you were trying to cut back. My husband went through a phase of drinking green tea. That was, until a friend told him about it containing caffeine and well with that knowledge he went straight back to coffee.

Your only the third person I know who does't drink either. My brother not touched a drink of tea or coffee in 30 years and a friend of mine. I beleive green tea contains less caffeine than coffee about 75% less but there are other benefits from green tea.

I tried one for 5 days and I had a headache on every one of these days starting exactly at 11:00 A.M. So I stopped that and started to drink coffee again and I had no more headache.

I've gone 76 years without drinking coffee. I just don't like it. I love tea though, but just plain English breakfast tea.

I did drink tea at one point but I can't now, it doesn't taste the same like it once it. Ok with some green teas.

I could go a day without coffee but I wouldn't be a very happy person to be around. Also, if you cut it out completely, it can cause you to get severe headaches. It's better to wean yourself off slowly.

I tend to go off coffee in the hot weather so it wouldn't be difficult for me.
