Should I Upgrade To Windows 10 While It's Free?

I love being a part of new technology, but not to soon. About 6 months ago, Windows 10 became free for most Windows 7 and 8 users. I did not switch then because I wanted to let it have time to brew out some of the glitches. It remains free until June 2016. I am pondering taking the leap to Windows 10. I have researched lots of good things about it, and then some not so good things. My biggest concern is that my laptop won't make the grade. It does meet the requirements, but I wonder how much memory will be left after updates. Have any of you made the switch? Do you think I should make the leap?

@BethieAnnie i think it would be no problem that link is one amongst quite a few and people say it's fine...some are running it on 2gb.
If I have 4 GB of RAM, how is it going to run Windows 10?

I was told to wait as it still has many bugs and if the windows you have is working fine why upgrade? Anyways, that's what I was told.

@BethieAnnie It definitely is a lot of people but compared to the number of computers it might be a small number and so it is hard to know what to do at this time.

@1hopefulman Right. That is a global number as well. I agree, it is tough to choose right now. Good thing we have another 5 months to decide!

I have heard it from both sides of the claim. The reminder in Windows claims that 110 million people have already switched. Which seems like a lot of people.

I would. For one thing it is free and for another it's free/ LOL I have found in my past experience that not getting the latest Windows can cause some problems on the internet. I had some problems on some sites and interacting with different things. When a tech helped he said it was because my computer didn't work with the newer Windows. Hope that makes sense. My computer automatically downloaded Windows 10 and though I have had a few problems getting used to it I found it very nice in most areas and a little problem in others. It is running fine now.

Glad to hear it is running well for you. Do you mind me asking how much RAM you have? I have 4 GB and I am wondering if that is enough!

Some like it, many hate it. My husband upgraded to Windows 10 and reverted back to the previous operating system. I have not upgraded.

I have not and don't want to.. My daughter made the switch and said she wished she hadn't. She can't figure it out.

That is what I am afraid of. I do not want to be stuck in the I can't figure it out group, and I might be.

I've already made the leap and I'm very happy with it. I'm sure you will love it. :-)

@missjessicadawn It isn't that I hate change. I just feel like technology moves so fast that I am always having to learn something new. Arg, ive been told we never stop learning in life. I didn't expect this though.

@BethieAnnie I'm the same way about things like that. I don't like change. I get comfortable with something and I don't see why I have to switch. lol

I made the switch as soon as I could, didn't like windows 8 which my laptop came with. I think it will tell you if you computer meet the requirements but not sure. Someone was saying the other day there windows 7 laptop didn't to which I was surprised with. I'm so happy with windows 10 so much better than 8.

was thinking of upgrading too because it always flashes on my taskbar every time I open my laptop. Wanna find out how it would turn out so I guess I'll be upgrading later.

I have not upgraded. I have heard some say they like it and some say they don't. I am using Windows 8.1 right now and really like it . I really don't want to upgrade.

I am back on Windows 7. I am a little worried because I know it could be put up on the chopping block.

I guess the only way to know for sure is to try it. I imagine it will take hours to download and install.

Upgrading is good. But it take some time to familiar with the new one.

I have never used Windows 10. I would have to learn it all. Did you make the transition? How has the adjustment been?

I have also heard both good and bad. My desktop up north is over 4 years old and uses Windows 7. It has become funky, so I may go to 10. If I don't like it or see an improvement, we will get a new computer. I am using all Apple products now - laptop, iPhone, and iPad.
