Why Trump?

This is not an endorsement by any means, but merely an interesting analogy: You've been on vacation for a couple weeks, you come home, and your basement is infested with raccoons. Dozens of rabid, messy, mean raccoons have overtaken your basement. You want them gone immediately so you hire a guy. A pro. You don't care if the guy smells, you need those raccoons gone pronto, and he's the guy to do it! You don't care if the guy swears, you don't care if he's an alcoholic, you don't care how many times he's been married, you don't care if he voted for Obama, you don't care if he has plumber's crack . . . you simply want those raccoons gone! You want your problem fixed! He's the guy. He's the best. Period. That's why Trump has such high ratings. Yes he's a bit of an a$$, yes he's an egomaniac, but you don't care. The country is a mess because politicians suck, the republican party and democratic party suck and are two-faced and gutless. You just want it all fixed! You don't care that Trump is crude, you don't care that he insults people, you don't care that he had been friendly with Hillary, you don't care that he's been an adversary of Hillary. You don't care that he has changed positions, you don't care that he's been married three times, you don't care that he fights with Megyn Kelly and Rosie O'Donnell, you don't care that he doesn't know the name of some Muslim terrorist . . . this country is weak, going bankrupt, our enemies are making fun of us, we are losing our economic edge, we are becoming a nation of victims where every Tom, Ricardo and Ahmed is a special group with special rights to a point where we don’t even recognize the country we were born and raised in . . . “AND WE JUST WANT IT FIXED”, and Trump is the only guy who seems to understand what the people want. You're sick of career politicians, sick of the democratic party, republican party, and sick of our broken government. You just want this thing fixed. Trump may not be a saint, but he doesn’t have lobbyist money holding him, he doesn’t have political correctness restraining him, he's not a career politician. All you know is that he has been very successful, a good negotiator, he has built a lot of things, and he's also not a politician, he's not a cowardly politician. And he says he'll fix it. You don't care if the guy has bad hair. You just want those raccoons gone. Out of your house. Now! *Okay, let the fun begin with the comments! Remember, let's keep it cordial my friends!

We obviously do not care that he has bankrupted himself three times, either. I will give him credit that he has built up his fortune again each time. However, is four years enough time to rebuild our government's finances if he decides to bankrupt us? Oh wait, we are already there, so I guess he can't do too much more harm on that front. Carry on.

@moffittjc I would be more concerned about the number of times it has happened. Once is a learning experience. Three times seems more like a pattern to me, but maybe I am wrong.

@purplealabaster That is true. Unless they all happened close together in time. But if it happened once every decade, I'd say he never learned his lesson.

His ability to bankrupt an already bankrupt country can't be any worse than Bernie's plans to give away everything for free to every American. If that doesn't bankrupt us, nothing will! So who's more likely to bankrupt us, Trump or Bernie? But wait a minute...you already mentioned that we're already bankrupt! lol

You have a good point. I'm tired of the rabid raccoons in my basement. It's time for someone who can take care of them and get them out of my house.

Well, the whole point of myLot is for us to engage in conversation back and forth with each other, so what a better way of doing that than with a political debate about a controversial candidate! lol

Haha for a moment there if I hadn't read the Trump word I would have thought you were talking about Great Britain PLC. The alternative Hilary Clinton. I wonder if she will have herself some muscled six packed abdo interns rally around in the White house while Bill is confined to his own quarters under guard!

@moffittjc it's interesting how much more people are paying to the elections now. I think I have to attribute it to Trump.

Trump has certainly caused the spotlight to shine on the Republican race but has left the Democrat side almost without any attention at all. Hillary will walk into the slot without any real competition unless she winds up indicted for one of her many alleged crimes and misdemeanors.

So, whether he's the right guy or not, he's woken up a normally lethargic and apathetic voting public, who suddenly cares very much about what is or is not going on in this country. If we would have been paying this much attention over the past 20 or so years, our country may not be in the position its in now.

@DWDavis A year ago, I would have said that Hillary could make a good president. However, now, as more and more truth comes out about her scandalous dealings, I am beginning to realize she is just another career politician who cares more about holding on to power than to actually leading this country and do what is right for the people. Lies, cover-ups, cheating, corruption...all things she is guilty of. Things all of our career politicians are guilty of.

@moffittjc Noooo! I wanna keep the raccoons! Nah but seriously, I know what you are saying and I can't give a good enough comment about it because I don't follow everything he does. I am well aware of his egotistical mannerisms which doesn't make me fancy a one on one conversation with him but him doing a job as president, well I don't know. If he does what needs to be done for America and it's all positive then good on him. People will find even a small reason to hate someone. Especially when the media tweaks or fakes the story to make them look bad. I am not fond of Trump's personality. BUT it doesn't reflect the way he works. As long as he does good then good. If he does bad...well what can ya do?

I agree we do not have a good quality of candidates to chose from and he may be the only one to bring us back to where we should be. The Republicans nor the Democrates can help us as all they want to do is spend, spend, spend and then rant and rave and we are supposed to believe them.

In truth, we can't really blame everything on our current or past presidents. The mess we're in rests more on the shoulders of our Congress than anywhere else. Republicans point the fingers at democrats. Democrats point the fingers at republicans. Their failure to reach across the aisle and shake hands and agree to work together has been what has failed this country. We need to clean house and start over.

@Marcyaz I'm not completely disenfranchised with our political system just yet, but I am getting close. This election could make or break my faith in the system. As it stands now, I'm leaning towards it breaking my faith in the system. I hope I am proven wrong...

He knows what to do. He knows how to do, and he proves that he is a very successful businessman with long term horizon. I think the best thing is that he speaks straight, instead of trying to be politically correct, and not sincere.

I like the fact that Trump and Cruz are not the Republican Establishment's choice, yet they are the highest in the polls. I think it is great that the quack RINOs are shaking in their boots. That is why the Republican Establishment better stand behind Trump or Cruz if they should win the nomination OR, the Republican Party is finished. It might as well dissolve.

@LeaPea2417 Okay, out of fairness, I think both the republicans and democrats are out of touch with the American people. The republicans more so than the democrats, but they are all clueless about the struggles the average American faces day in and day out.

There is just so much that can be said about this post, or about Trump in particular. Regardless of how we feel about him, we cannot deny that he has consistently remained strong in the national polls. Everyone discounted his ability to have staying power, yet here he is still "trumping" along with high ratings. Good or bad, he has stirred up feelings in each of us that no other politician has been able to do. I don't know if he'll make a good president. I don't know that he even deserves to be president. I do know that he is stirring up emotions in millions of Americans who are scared, afraid, angry, upset or just plain tired of the way our country has been run for the past couple of decades. So, you don't have to take the 5th on this. Good or bad, agree or disagree, your opinions are just as valid as mine!

@DWDavis You are correct. Without the support of Congress, there is very little our president can actually do on his/her own. In most instances, our president can't just act unilaterally without approval from Congress. This is certainly going to get interesting as we move forward.

@moffittjc - Well, I'm from NJ, so very close to his kingdom...I have a friend whose husband worked for Trump for many years and thought he walked on water. He always said Trump was strict but fair. Yes he even interested me in watching debates and I never did that, maybe I watched to to see him hanging himself or maybe I watched hoping NJ Gov. fell flat on his fat face. Good or bad, its a crap shoot...

Trump is the last thing this country needs. His angry mean-spirited brand of politics would likely start WW 111. I am glad to live in the blue state of Oregon where the Democratic candidate will surely win. He could not fix anything in my opinion.

I'm beginning to think that Washington is broken beyond repair, and that nobody--democrat or republican--can fix it. At least not in one or two terms. It took us a long time to get into this mess, it will take us a long time to get out of it. Well...assuming you agree there is even a mess in Washington to fix!

@moffittjc I believe that the biggest mess in Washington is the House of Reps, dominated by do nothing Republicans. I share President Obama's optimism and his record of accomplishments in the face of their determination to derail progress is impressive. I hope the Trumpites wake up when they actually vote to how dangerous this man is . I suggest reading "It Can't Happen Here," a novel by Sinclair Lewis published many years ago.

Sounds like a case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't!" It's kind of like watching a train wreck...you know it's going to be ugly, but you can't help but watch to see what happens. I think the same is true of Trump.

Let's hope we all come to our senses before we have to burn down the house. But even if we don't want Trump in the Oval Office, who else is a truly viable candidate to fix the ills of this country? Everybody else is just a career politician. We don't need anymore career politicians in office. That's what worries me the most.
