I know the new episode came out on January 1, but because I was on vacation I didn't get to see it until tonight, but I finally got a chance to see the new Sherlock Holmes episode "The Abominable Bride," starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. As usual, the episode was very dark, bounced around the story quite a bit, and left us questioning everything going on. In short, it was awesome! I loved how, in this episode, the story bounced back and forth between the present and 100 years ago as Sherlock and Watson attempted to solve a crime. Okay, I guess I should stop there and not give any of the story away to anyone who has not seen the episode yet! I don't want to be known as a spoiler! Filming on the series begins again in April, with the intent to air new episodes in 2017. As a big fan of the show, I absolutely cannot wait for the new season to come out in 2017! Have you seen "The Abominable Bride," and are you a fan of the show?

To be honest I'm not a big fan. I much prefer the old style Holmes with Jeremy Brett.

How can you not like this version of Sherlock Holmes. I suppose you are going to say that you do not like the new Three Musketeers television show, either.

Benedict Cumberbatch sure does portray Sherlock Holmes in a very interesting way, and the show is pretty dramatic in its storytelling. I can understand how not everyone might not like this version of Sherlock!

@moffittjc Admittedly my attention wasn't on it 100% (I was on here too), so perhaps it needed that 100%

Yeah, there was a lot going on in that show. It took me almost the entire episode to figure it out, but I probably shouldn't discuss it here because I don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't watched yet.

I knew that they were supposed to be making a one-off before they did the next season, but I did not know that it was out yet. I probably will not be able to watch it for a while as I have a lot of things to get off the DVR first. However, I am excited to be able to see this one.

It was a good episode, but pretty weird. Right up there with what I expected out of this show!

@moffittjc I do like that it is different and weird. I certainly think that is part of the appeal of the show ... and of course Benedict and Martin do not hurt, either.

@purplealabaster I never realized how popular Benedict Cumberbatch was until I started watching the show. My teenage daughter is absolutely in love with him! lol

I love it. I think that Benedict and Martin are fabulous together. Definitely my favourite Holmes and Watson. Although ... I do like a bit of Robert Downey Jr's Holmes as well!

You're right, and I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it, but Benedict and Martin have amazing chemistry between them. That has to be a great reason why the show works so well, as they are a perfect fit together! I haven't seen the version with Robert Downey Jr, but it sounds like i need to check it out!

@moffittjc Don't hate me....but I haven't seen one episode or one movie about Sherlock Holmes! Not because I have no interest but I just haven't got around to doing so.

I think you would like the current show starring Benedict Cumberbatch if you ever had the chance to watch the episodes. But fair warning...each episode is about 2 hours long!
