Next Step: Dentures

It's been a busy day today. I didn't get much sleep getting to bed at 1:30 this morning and up at 8:30 so ended up taking a short nap when all was said and done. I barely had enough time to eat and get out of the house this morning for my counseling appointment. That's going well. I got home and got my Bible Study done and posted and had to rush out the door for my dental appointment. I'm so happy with the way dentists ply their trade today. I didn't feel a thing and the drill didn't bother me too much, only the sound. I had three teeth filled today and when all was said and done they handed me a slip of paper with the phone number to make an appointment to get my dentures. So that's the next step. I'm so happy. It means I can look forward to eating normal again and I'll have a proper smile again. And this time it will be proper, no missing teeth, no crooked or cockeyed teeth. I'm looking forward to a picture with a nice smile on it. Now that would be great! I also did my walking on the treadmill before I came back in here to interact with you all, so things are looking up. I will definitely be upping the time next week from 5 to 10 minutes. So that was my day. How was yours?

My lower denture has to be relined so I am also visiting my Dental Technician to fix it. It is so hard when denture does not fit well anymore.

@just4him I think both. Regular visit to our dentist is a must.

When I left the dental clinic today the receptionist said I would have another follow-up appointment in a year. I wonder if it's to check on the denture's or just the remaining teeth.

I hope it continues. I don't want any more problems, except the one I'm not looking forward to - Pip - for the rest of the year.

@SIMPLYD No, it's because I didn't have any front teeth and now I don't have any uppers.

I do not like to go to the dentist, I go once a year to have my teeth cleaned, but at least I do not have major problems.

@just4him My Mom had teeth problems, but I have inherited my Dad mouth. I consider myself lucky, I have all my teeth except two wisdom teeth that were removed two years ago.

@LadyDuck That's wonderful. I lost my wisdom teeth when I was in the Navy many years ago. They were the cause of my headaches at the time because my jaw was so small and the teeth cramped all the other teeth.

I'm glad you don't have any problems with your teeth. I inherited my mom's mouth. She had dentures early. I've had bone loss in my jaw causing my teeth to loosen. I've lost quite a few teeth in the past few years due to it. They took the last five uppers in October or early November, and a couple on the bottom, leaving me with a total of nine teeth. Now I need to make an appointment to get dentures, but that could take a while as one of their dentists is out due to injuries. They have short enrollments on the first Friday of February and March.

@Jessicalynnt No pain whatsoever. I think I did too in the past which is why I always hesitated about going to the dentist, but now it's painless.

The dentist wasn't bad. No pain and now my mouth is completely thawed and I can finally enjoy eating once again. Pizza tonight.

Delays ahead. I called for the appointment to be told they have a short open enrollment the first Friday of next month and in March as well due to the loss of one of their dentists who was injured. So it could be a while before I have them.

@Marcyaz I saw the weather site and some areas are getting a foot of snow with the current storm and some places that rarely get snow are getting snow. I called to make my appointment this morning but they aren't taking new patients. They have a short enrollment on the first Friday of the month, so I'll be calling then and hope I can get an appointment or it will be a long time before I get dentures. The receptionist said they are down a dentist because he was injured.

I'm sorry you have a lot of missing teeth and can't afford dentures. I can only afford them because I'm on state aid.

I'm glad you had a good day and you will have normal teeth again. I still have all mine i've only had 1 pulled before because it was a bad tooth but it's way in the back to where it's not noticeable. Other than that my teeth are in great shape.

My teeth were in great shape too. It was only my jawbone that caused the teeth to loosen up so I lost them.

Denture is very expensive, especially if you make the chrome denture. Chrome denture lasts a very long time, but the cost is very high. Many companies here do not cover for dental cost, so it is out of pocket for most of us.

That is great you had a good procedure at the dentist! I had to get a crown last year and was so scared, but after the visit ~ I didn't feel anything.

I don't have the dentures yet. That's the next step. I need to make a phone call to make the appointment, then arrange a ride to get there since I have to go to Milwaukee to get them and there's no way I will ever find the place on my own, but Medicaid will provide transportation. I'm very pleased with my progress on the treadmill.

I also didn't sleep well today. I also slept half past 1 AM. I woke up so early to see my little niece at 8 AM. They will have a field trip in the church. The little 4 year-old princess is s excited.

It has been quiet being stuck inside with a lot of rainy weather. The rain should be out by 3 am but then comes the falling temps during the day and bone chilling winds
