Another Telephone Update

What a freaking mess! Last night I turned to a channel that suddenly was no longer there on my television. I got on the online chat with my provider (Bell Canada). They said the system was updating and to chat back in an hour or call in the morning. I scanned through the television channels and a whole bunch of channels were gone and a few added. What the heck? The guy didn't tell me he would be taking AWAY channels. The follow-up email detailing our transaction was actually blank. I got on online chat again this morning because in calling I was get a fast busy signal. It wasn't until my husband called me on my cell phone did I realize the land line had been disconnected. But I still have a dial tone. I tried online chat this morning but ended out calling on my cell phone. When I gave the person I spoke to the ID number of the person I spoke to yesterday he said that wasn't an employee ID number. WTF? Is any of this for real? I got my channels back after an online chat this morning. I don't understand why the phone was still disconnected. I was told it is still in the system for four days so the new promotion can't go into affect for four days. I told him that I was never told channels would be taken away. He apologized and said that wasn't handled properly. So, as it stands now, the new channels (Family package) has been removed and my old channels are back. (I cannot live without my Travel channels. Ghost Adventures, Expedition Unknown, Border Security, Tiny Houses, other house hunting shows... I watch them all the time - especially Ghost Adventures). And my land line is disconnected. In four days or so a representative will call me again. It's going to be hard for me to believe anything this person has to say, that's for sure. I'm really tired of the money gouging by all companies. Banks want service charges for everything. I am charged a $4/month service charge for 15 free transactions a month, but I don't have an income so rarely use the account. When I asked if we could get rid of this service fee I was told the other option was a $6/month service charge. Why the heck am I paying them to hold onto my money? It's the same with all these companies. And what angers me more is the top guys, the CEOs, get million dollar bonuses every year. I have other alternatives but who wants to go to all the hassle of changing phone numbers, email addresses, package choices, etc.? So I've wasted a couple of hours arguing on the phone over the last two days. It's time to burn off some energy on the treadmill.

The cable companies make a lot of money off of paid TV and yet they keep raising the prices.

As I said to my husband, prices go up but not wages. His insurance through work allows us $500 a year for massage therapy, $500 a year for chiropractic care, $500 a year for physiotherapy, etc. That amount has never changed. Have those businesses raised their rates over the years? No doubt. I have had physio for my tennis elbow, which keeps coming back, and I can say that $500 worth of treatment is not enough to fix any injury. We pay insurance for car and house, but if we use that insurance, the money we put into it, then our prices go up. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer and no government seems to know how to fix it... unless they just don't want to.

The monthly service charge is expensive! It's really no fun to call the customer service here as well. Though it's their job to serve us, they don't always seem to do a good job. Of course, I know there are some very good and professional customer service representatives out there, and I have met some. I prefer online chat if possible, so I don't need to keep waiting at another line for someone to attend to me, I can still do my work with my computer while waiting. Hope you'll get everything fixed soon!

My cable bill just went up this month for absolutely nothing more than what I already have. I would disconnect my cable but I'd miss some of my favorite shows so I'll bite the bullet for now and see what happens down the road.

I get six free transactions a month, but must maintain a certain balance. In a year all my business will go to the credit union. No fees for 60+
