Persona Paper Bites the Dust

United States
January 30, 2016 12:29pm CST
I left Persona Paper the same time I signed up here. It could take months to cash out there for $20 and people left one by one. The site itself was slow, I complained all the time about that. I stuck around as long as I felt that I could but I am not shocked to find out they are closing. Anyway, if you want to know the 'rest of the story' I have included a link to the owner's article about this.
I am sad to announce - the final nail has been set. This article was posted on Persona Paper - where we you can earn value for your content.

Most writing sites are rather short-lived. I know two British sites, ciao and dooyoo which have been online for over 15 years. That's a miracle.

Every place I've ever written in the 7-8 years I've been doing this - folded. I was beginning to think it was my fault.

I have stopped writing there even before joining myLot. The site was too slow, very little interaction and it took forever to make the minimum $ 20.00. I am sorry for the owners, they surely were more serious than Bubb. owners.

@AbbyGreenhill I noticed that they stopped to be active, I think they found something different to do and stopped to seriously follow the site.

They were serious in the beginning, but disappeared from the site except for one or two articles a few months ago.

@LadyDuck If that's the case then it's a good thing they're closing down.

I use to be a moderator there but I quit the moment Ashley sold the site to someone else.

@AbbyGreenhill Basically the owner fired many moderators because at that point there are more moderators than regular members.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Some of them shouldn't have been moderators to begin with LOL

When I started there were moderators but it didn't last long.

I joined there when their pay rate was similar to Bubblews, and then it dropped down, and then I lost interest. It would have taken me forever to cash out, and at the time it was still $5. I'm glad I didn't stick around.

$5 was easy - when it $20 and not a lot of people on there it took a long time.

@AbbyGreenhill Yes, but that $5 was compared to when the other site was paying out a lot more. By shifting gears I made more than I would have dividing my attention.

@Shiva49 I was at AC/Yahoo for a few years. I was a community guide and I was a featured travel and pets writer. I loved it and the point there was to make money, and I did. This quite different here, this is more social!

@AbbyGreenhill AC/Yahoo could not pay non-US residents the normal way and one had to go through a detailed process to get paid and that acted as a sort of dampener for me and I stopped writing there much before they eventually closed the site - siva A link to my post regarding this:
The email that Yahoo Contributor Network was shutting down came like a bolt from the blue even for the likes of me who were not active. Then what about those who had put in their heart and soul into their posts and built up the community over the years?

It's sad to see another writing site is closed down. I knew about this site when I was still writing in Bubblews, I just didn't spend much time checking it out. I hope mylot will always be around.

Almost two weeks ago, I finally cashed out (me and another woman) and when we both had not heard one word form them as to why our payments were not being sent, I knew something was up. Then when I read "the final nail" post, it made sense to why I was concerned. From what I read, we will get our payments (especially the ones who just cashed out). It will take a little longer. I am going to try and save some of my posts. The ones that have more substance. Some of the more dated and weather related posts, I may not keep.

I never had the need or desire for my own blog, but I do write for a friend's blog which means I have the easy part, she has the hard part.

I will miss Persona Paper, not for the vast fortune I raked in there (please!) but because of the people there. I'm happy to have found myLot, of course. And I applaud the owners for being upfront with what's happening. I made copies of all the posts I want to keep anyway.
