Maybe my topic wasn't interesting...?

I don't know, for some reason, today is a sort-of quiet day here in myLot for me. I started a discussion some hours ago, but it doesn't seem to be picking up comments or responses. Maybe the topic I choose is boring for myLotters? How do you come up with really interesting topics and discussions here in myLot?

Why do people want to stir up things by making the statement "it is a quiet day on Mylot?" I think it is only quiet if you make it so.

You have a point there. Let's make some noise then!

@moonchild117 You need to invite some people to the party to make that happen, Here let me start @DaddyEvil, @vandana7, @mysdianait, @sugartoes, @Daljinder, @jaboUK and I am sure they will bring some others if you don't mind your discussion being hijacked.

Today has been a slow day for me too. Yesterday it was pretty active, I guess people got tired.

@OneOfMany I guess there's that, too. Do you think myLot is busier during weekends? Or just the same as weekdays?

Something you may not realize is that any topic can be a dud just as easy as it can be a hit that carries a conversation on and on... It just depends on who you attract and whether you are inclined to allow them to go off-topic or force them to stay on-topic on your threads, moonchild. You noticed that Pete ( @pgiblett ) put out a general call to people he knew would talk once he got us here, right? It isn't difficult to find chatterboxes like me, vandana, mysdianait, sugartoes, purplealabaster, Daljinder, mommaj, fishtiger58, TheHorse,... etc. All you have to do is look around a little bit and look at threads that say; see more comments. That is a "fold" in the fabric of myLot. Many of those "folds" hold some interesting/funny/sad discussions! Unfortunately, not everyone appreciates the chatterboxes! I have been ordered to leave someone's thread because I was not addressing every comment to the thread's author! (I haven't been on that author's threads since, even though I was tagged by that person in two other threads..... ) You also may not know that the ones who author very few threads ourselves may do that partly because we have more fun terrorizing people on their own threads than it is to be stuck on a thread we wrote.... (Personally, I am not very good at starting good discussions, no matter what I can do with/on someone else's threads! I can't do that with my own, for whatever reason)

To be honest, I got quite a surprise when one of the threads just got long. And I'm so slow at catching up! But since myLot is really about connecting and interacting, I really don't mind if you guys (the chatterboxes, hehe!) stick around. Just give me time to backread the comments. I usually look at the discussions that are most recent or without responses yet. That's where I leave comments. I don't know, I just feel like hey, why not get the conversation going, right?

@moonchild117 Well, if you like doing that, then that is what you should do! I like talking to people... I also like to research stuff for my friends, too... If you look at my profile and go back through some of my comments, you will find different places where I have done some spot research and given a factual answer to someone. Usually, it is something they mention in passing, but sometimes it is an answer to a specific request they made to me. I LIKE doing research, and like to think I am very good at it! Sometimes, though, I don't have to do any research at all, because I already know the topic inside and out... I like answering those questions, too. You realize you will miss out on a lot of the byplay if you just hit newer threads all the time, right?

I got a mention here but in another box and I came to see what is going on. Now that I am here I am still not really sure wither Looks like a lot of fun though so I will be back once I catch up elsewhere and somewhere else and then over there too

Haha! Yeah, I didn't think the discussion will be this long. At one point, I got lost myself. But after reading the comments, I realized it got fun. There are indeed lots of fun people here in myLot.

@mysdianait Yes it does! One of the comment threads here have opened up a totally different topic. To be honest, this is the first discussion I've started that's pretty active. Been 6 days since I posted here and some members are still leaving comments. Yay!

It is so hard to choose a topic in the hopes that it will garner a lot of views. Seems like the how, when, why, what titles do pretty well. When a question is at the bottom of a post, that encourages members to give their answers. Sometimes a topic I think is a real loser does pretty well.

Hmm, I guess that's a factor. At least from the title of the discussion, people are already inclined to respond.

Yes, that's also a factor. I think because I (we) live in a different time zone than the other users, there will be less people when I'm logged in during mornings, when it's nighttime in other places.

@moonchild117 About three years back when Mylot had a 'categories' feature. One of the categories was 'personal.'This edition of the site doesn't have that feature. So what?We can share our personal experiences, feelings, emotions and incidents here. You may share your day to day experiences with us.I do so,and it works.

@divalounger I think some do it that way. Sometimes I see one user post multiple topics in a day. He or she thinks quite fast!

I wish I knew. Honestly I don't think it's the topic header as much as the opportunity to respond to what's in the body of the discussion, that's where there could be the possibility of starting discussions with respondants.

I am not good at coming up with interesting topics. I always just write what's in my mind, same goes to the topic. I have been very busy with my freelance projects lately, hence I didn't spend much time in mylot. Perhaps everyone was just busy in those few hours? I think you get many responses for this.
