Posting Schedule - Does it help you? Any advice for posting regularly?

In an effort to keep posting regularly and not vanish, I've decided to make a schedule for myself. I figure I'll end up burning myself out if I try to do too many things every day, so I'm hoping pacing myself will help. As of right now, here's what my schedule will be. Sunday: No Post Monday: No Post Tuesday: Post Wednesday: No Post Thursday: Post Friday: No Post Saturday: Post How many of you have schedules for yourself? I realize that many people just use this whenever something comes to them, but I'm curious. Does anyone have a schedule? Do you find it's easier to work with one? Or do you just let whatever flow, even if you go weeks without?

I note down topics as they arise as easy to forget them - siva

@hellopeeps I think if I take my days off to think of more topics, while going around to comment on other people's posts, I won't run out of ideas. @Shiva49 Good idea. I do that with my novel ideas as well.

@vandana7 I have posted long articles over a five year period at YCN, Bukisa and Wikinut numbering over 700. Most are still topical, but I like to write now without referencing them to live in the "moment". Each site was different so let my posts get MyLot flavor! siva

Whatever works for you is the way to go. Some people post discussions rarely and spend most of their time responding to and commenting on other people's discussions. Those who seem to do best (as far as earnings are concerned, anyway) are those who post discussions regularly and maintain a high profile by responding and commenting often in other people's discussions - in other words, by being 'socially active' with people who are likely to also be socially active (that can only be determined by experience, of course: after a while, you get to know who is likely to reply when you respond or comment and who is not). My own experience is that good discussions are likely to earn more than good responses and comments but it is still essential to spend proportionately more time responding and commenting than posting discussions because that is the most effective way of encouraging people to respond to your discussions.

@SometimesINovel & @hellopeeps My earnings are 'modest' because I don't post discussions very often and my responses and comments tend to be informational (because of the nature of the discussion) and probably get fewer comments because of that. What I have found, however, is that, on the days when I post discussions, my earnings are often five or ten times as much as those for the days when I'm just responding and commenting. I don't keep a close check on how many notifications I get a day but my impression is that there are certainly not as much as five or ten times the notifications, which is one thing which leads me to say that discussions probably earn better than responding and commenting. On the whole, I'm satisfied with how my earnings are doing (but I'm not here for the money). I seem to reach payout about every other month or so but I know of several people who are doing better than that.

@owlwings You seem to have myLot all figured out! Lol. But you make very good points. I plan to spend my non-posting days responding and commenting on other people's post, so that I can focus on replying to the people that respond to my posts when I post, so I'm not neglecting them. And like @hellopeeps , I'm also curious as to how well you're doing, if you don't mind.

My work schedule varies so much from day to day and week to week that it is difficult for me to know how much time online I will have--and I have to divide that time between my various pursuits--so I post --sometimes--mostly, I enjoy reading and commenting

@SometimesINovel I am not always here--but I have some free time now--or freer time anyway

@divalounger That's completely understandable. It's still really great that you're finding ways to stay active and engaged on the site. :)

Right now I'm trying to get three posts up each week, not counting the quick daily posts I do. I usually write them ahead of time, and just space them out over the week. If there's something in the news, or something I don't want to wait on, I'll just write it and post it.

@oneoveralpha That's a great idea. I think I might start writing my posts out, and spacing them out during the week, as well as smaller random thoughts. :) Good system.

I guess a schedule is related to a goal, or to goal setting. Every time I set goals, the goal posts are moved though, and every time I set a schedule, something comes along to mess that up too, usually. I just jump onto mylot, whenever I have a spare moment. Are schedules, and to-do lists related to goals, and to goal setting then? When you live in the now, you still need to have a direction, and all of these tools help you to stay on track with your direction, or with the direction, which is best for you in relation to your overall life purpose. Goals, schedules & life purpose all relate to each other too then, I think. Perhaps all of this is why I have struggled through life, not even yet identifying my life purpose either... LOL...

@Shiva49 You've stumped me with that answer siva. I have nothing to say, no runs to make off that one, except to agree with you.

@Shiva49 Yes, it being respectful, and possibly also advantageous, to follow local customs/guidelines when one is a visitor, to a new place. Are you still a visitor here though? Your hectic schedule, has made you a regular "mylotter", if I could coin that phrase. I also do not like to like very short answers, like "I agree." and yet you have a point, I am starting to become more Italian,,,,LOL...every day that I spend here, I will end up doing what the Romans, the Germans, the French, the US, and even what the Indians do, I suspect, I will become a blender here, after all.

I don't post regularly. I have to feel something to post. It may even be a doubt. But there is nothing like note down this and post about it.

@vandana7 I see. Even though I've made this schedule, my posting actually be something like that if it gets away from me too much. I've started to realize that I don't have as much free time as I thought.
