Does tagging really work in myLot?

We have the option for tagging while publishing new discussions as well as comments. To my observation, most of the Users in mylot are using, to some extent, this option. But, we don't know how far it works.
Can you share your experience about the benefits of tagging in myLot?

I use tags sometimes. I'm not sure how much good they do, so with me it's more of a "can't hurt" kind of thing.

It often leads to the column on the right, ' you might also like'. This has led me to discover other writers with similar interests.

I use them, but mainly just in the hope that someone checking out that tag will stumble upon one of my discussions. I don't know how well they work, but they may work.
