Cold Weather Makes My Body Ache!

Have you ever noticed that when it gets really cold and the weather does not seem to gives us a hint of warmth that you body aches? I seem to have that everytime the weather turns freezing and I start getting foot cramps because of it. I like cold weather at night as it does help me sleep better, but hate that it makes me wake up in agony due to painful foot cramps! Does it have the same affect on your body too?

It must be pretty cold where you are also. It is about 10 degrees here in Minnesota right now - with some wind which is not fun. It doesn't really make my body HURT but definitely makes me move a little slower it seems; I just have less energy overall. Not sure if that is a sun / vitamin D thing or what. hope it warms up soon!

I think it could be a vit D thing and maybe the cold naturally aches the muscles as it makes them stiffer. I am taking Vit D capsules already.

Last night we got a dusting of snow, by this morning the wind had blown it off our cars. Not to mention, it is SO cold.

The cold weather makes me just want to be lazy and stay snuggled up in bed!

@akalinus Fractures are the best barometers, they never fail.

Oh no :( That does sound awful that the pain stays with you when it is cold

I broke an ankle about 15 years ago and it is like a barometer. It tells me that the weather is changing.

When it is cold, I feel stiff and achy too. It also affects me when the weather changes as my feet start hurting really bad.

Hot water bottle might help or thermal trousers?

I wonder why the weather has such an impact on our health?

It is true, I wonder why too. Imagine all those that live near the North and South pole and they adapted fine.

@JudyEv I know in my case, it is hard to acclimate. Here the weather might be the 70s or 80s and a day or two later, it is in the 30s. It is so hard to get used to the cold.

I do not live in a place where we will experience cold weather. i think there are good and bad. The bad thing is that we have to switch on the air con in order to get to sleep.

It's my back for me, I have mild congenital scoliosis that does not progress and I have learned to manage, just a little pain when there's a change of weather.

@gudheart I was assured that it will never progress because the curvature is very small, I practice natural medicine and I have managed it from a young age, I never took medicines ever.

So it is the hot weather that also causes the ache for you too?

It can. I think I am more prone to a charlie's horse in the winter months, at the very least.

I do. But I have bad blood circulation as it is so probably another reason why I get cramps.

I hate the cold. It goes through me and I can't warm up. Bones ache, joints hurt, and I shiver and sneeze. It is getting colder as I write this. This is not what I signed up for when I moved to Florida.

I do seem to stiffen up much more quickly when the winter weather sets on. Yesterday I was sitting on the floor pinning a quilt. When I got up I could barely straighten, let alone walk across the rom.

That will make it worse sitting on a cold floor I think.

Sometimes, but I take a hot bath at night and that helps. My main problem is that I crunch up my shoulders when it's cold and then my back hurts.

Cold weather makes my knees ache and makes walking difficult.
