The mother-in-law from hell.

My hubby and I have been together for 9 years and married for 6 of that. His mother has always given me a hard time with everything that I have done or tired to do, as any mother in law would. Not long ago after our third child, the subject of breastfeeding was laid on the table. I had nursed all my children, and my last was no exception. Now the amount of time I was nursing my youngest was literally what topped my mother in law's cake. My daughter had just turned 2, and it was at her birthday party that my hubby's mother discovered I was still nursing her. Now, being this is my business and not her's, there would have been no reason to inform her that I was doing this still. She rudely put me down in front of everyone at the party. She said that I had ruined my daughters way of life and future by continuing to nurse her this long and that she would have issues later in life. Obviously, I was emotionally strapped and cried. Later my husband told me she had mentioned to him numerous times that she wished he would have never got married to me and had kids. This just breaks my heart! Am I alone with having a mother in law that just won't come together with us to be a family?

Unfortunately when you marry, the family comes along with it. I say kill her with kindness. Yeah, I know it's hard but be the better person. And you're right-it is none of her business. She doesn't sound to me like anyone would have been good enough. Don't let her get you down or she wins.

I feel so bad for you as I had a wonderful mother in-law and I don't know why some can't be nice instead of having such a bad nature. I wish your husband would tell her to mind her own business.
