Yes, you read that correctly. Tomorrow is the day that crazy and/or drunk and/or both people will be running into the freezing cold ocean all to raise money for charity. It is a huge event at the Jersey Shore every year and kind of a warm-up for the St. Patrick's Day Parade which is always the following month.
The truth is that, while the Polar Plunge is a nice influx of cash for boardwalk and Seaside bars, parking lots, and other vendors, it is a huge hassle for police and EMTs (drunk people rushing into freezing cold ocean anyone?). Also the bridge leading to the island is under construction and the island road is still being rebuilt after Superstorm Sandy. There's going to be some serious gridlock tomorrow evening when everyone is trying to leave the island.
Needless to say, this local will be staying home tomorrow! I think most locals do/will.

I think I would die instantly if I had to go into a cold sea! I can't even stand cold showers.
