My niece wants to be a mermaid

Everytime we go to church, i always notice my 6 year old niece going to the little fountain decoration located on the side of the church. I saw her throwing coins there along with other kids but i never asked her what shes wishing for. Last time we went to church again I notice her passed by the fountain without even looking at it. I asked her why didn't she throw a coin this time.. She said " I already spend so many coins on that fountain and my wish never came true" she answered with a sad face. Then I asked her what is it that she keeps on wishing? And i can't help but smile and laugh a little at her innocent answer. She said "I keep wishing to be a mermaid, and look at me I still don't have those mermaid tails!" I hugged her and told her to wish for another thing this time, not the mermaid tails. LOL.

Yes, sometimes children do have some interesting thoughts. It is very adorable for your niece to say that she wishes to be a mermaid. Perhaps you could tell her although she didn't have a tail like the mermaid, but she had the kind heart as well as the mermaid

Sometimes I like it better to talk to children than people of my age and older because they are so carefree and innocent. they speak their mind and sees life as a fairytale. Anyway I comforted her telling her that she can be a very pretty princess and may be we can buy her a mermaid costume instead =)

That's right. We shall explain to them how life works.Its our duty to guide them. But i always think life was better when we were kids. You have done good as an uncle.
