My welfare advisors have started mailing me jobs with mandatory orders to apply for them. The first one was a job I already applied for unsuccessfully but I’ve gone through the motions of applying again anyway as they can cut or stop my benefits for non-co-operation. I expected an article I wrote for a convention newsletter to appear today as it was requested by the convention organizers but there was no trace of it in the publication which is very annoying. Other than that it has been the start of a quiet period in my life which I need with money running low just now. I did some, writing, reading, TV viewing and sleeping. Arthur Chappell

well I guess those "mandatory" ones count as time spent right? And you wont get it, so no waste on the backside, so if they want you to apply for stupid stuff, I guess, whatever! lol

@Jessicalynnt it is very limited - once I give my mum money for my keep I struggle - I have to cut back more and more on going out now

@arthurchappell yeah, I know, but it's not totally lost, I mean, you get paid in terms of unemployment at least

I am very fortunate that I was never unemployed during my working career. It would have totally enraged me to be told when and where to apply for a job.

it is very frustrating all round and a really expensive cost to the tax payers

@arthurchappell This is true, they are spending vast sums of money to tell large numbers of people to apply for the same job.

@Asylum yes exactly - as soon as they hear someone had a good interview somewhere they shovel everyone on their case load in that direction too which clogs up the whole recruitment process
