Doing The Write Thing

What makes me a writer? I'm not pretentious when it comes to my writing. I don't say things like "I was born to write" or "Writing is in my heart". I'm pretty sure I would survive not writing anything.
I don't believe in muses (but they are delicious medium rare with lemon pepper) or any of that silly nonsense.
I took creative writing classes in high school simply because I wanted to write stories. I wasn't looking to become a writer at that time in my life. Sure, the feedback was great but it wasn't the most important thing to me. It was a challenge because I went to a private religious school and every story I wrote I was asked when my characters were going to get "saved".
Why do I write? Because I like it and I'm good at it. Simple enough.
