Things are growing!

Lately I have been just trying to contain myself waiting for outdoor gardening season to start here in Michigan. To keep myself occupied i have planted a few things indoors that i will be growing in containers and a few seeds that will be planted outdoors later. In the photo you can see that my carrots, leeks, lettuce ( a few types) and a regrown onion are all doing great! I love seeing tiny little plants pop out of the ground and in time become something I actually get to eat. How's your gardening going so far this year? I can't wait to really get started!

Have you tried growing sweet potato for the leaves? Sweet potato leaves are very tasty. You have to get the Japanese red color sweet potatoes. The yellow color one produces edible leaves but the taste is not nice.

I like to plant sweet potato leaves, as they are very easy to grow and contain lots of nutrition or vitamins as well. Moreover, they are very easy to cook too!

I won't be doing any gardening until May in the UK. Then it will be full on for several months.

No gardening here yet as it is still to cold to do anything outside. Love the photos of your little seedlings.

It's still too cold here too, i just couldn't wait and started a bunch of stuff indoors with a little light rack i made up out of miscellaneous supplies. I don't have high hopes for much out of these indoor plants, but it keeps me busy! Good luck when it finally warms up where you are!

@Marcyaz There should still be plenty of time, and either way, better late than never right?

Excellent. Is it warm enough there in Michigan? Here in MN I am thinking it is too cold to start a garden. Not that my apartment complex will let me have one. Ha!

Nope, not yet. All of this stuff will be indoors for another month and then some. I'll be starting most of my seeds real soon and then planting them outside near the end of May.

Is it your first time trying the "green onions"?

Being three months later now I can tell you we are pulling out some of our early crops and planning for our fall plants.

It's really great to see the plants growing, especially seed sprouting! I haven't have any plan with my garden yet, it has been neglected for more than half a year. I really need to make a plan soon, perhaps before or after my baby is born.
