Paying it Forward at The Cracker Barrel

A friend of mine told me a story once a long time ago, about when he was in a cracker barrel restaurant in line, about to pay for their order when all of a sudden from behind him, the man spoke up and said, "Miss. Could you please let me pay for the couple's meal directly in front of me?" My friend and his wife were in disbelief. They turned to thank the man and his wife for their generosity. The next day, my friend paid it forward at that same restaurant. He saw a family of 4 in line ahead of him and he motioned the attention of the cashier and said, "I would like to pay for their meal." They were excited by this. It gave my friend a deep sense of satisfaction. What it basically comes down to, when a person does you a good deed by paying it forward it is even more rewarding when you pay it forward to the next person. This can actually create a chain reaction of events that will always lead to positive results. The main thing about paying it forward is, you don't have to wait until someone else does a good deed for you before you decide to do it But this is not obligatory. It is not compulsory. It is only right when you can afford to do it and the opportunity avails itself. It is not necessary to brag about doing this to others to gain prestige or notoriety. When you simply do it out of the goodness of your heart because it's the right thing to do then it is the right thing to do to pay it forward.

I have had that happen to me and I have also paid it forward and I am sure it is like a chain reaction and will continue on. I feel good about this and hope everyone will at some time or another pass it on.

That's really nice. I've never done it before because I can't afford to, but I know I'd be really happy if someone did that for me. Things like that could really make a person's day.

You might give it a try. One small example is like holding the door for an elderly person. All things paid forward do not have to include the spending of money. Kind deeds come in a wide variety of manners. Another thing we all can do that doesn't cost a cent is to say thank you to someone who does something kind for us. Showing gratitude reinforces good conduct and reflects common courtesy towards others.

That is really cool. Paying it forward is a really nice thing to do. One time at Dollar General someone gave me two dollars to help pay for my order as the register wasn't taking my card. It was really nice. I put the same 2 bucks in an animal chariy.
