My buddy at the shop

The other day, I drove down to a fellow audiophile's shop to return some stuff I'd refinished for him and pick up some stuff to work on. It's pretty chaotic at the shop, and everything takes longer than it should, but I got to viisit with the shop dog, who is always excited to see me. Sometimes I take him for a walk. This time he greeted me at the door, got a good back scratch, and then proceeded to climb back into his chair, where he fell asleep. Do you tend to visit with your friends' and acquaintances' pets? I'm a sucker for cats, dogs, and even cockatiels.

I am a dog person. I recently rescued a little puppy that was abandoned. His body is full of mange. He's comfortable and is playing with me. Good to see the little bugger finally happy after spending unknown weeks outside eating whatever he can eat to survive.

Are you going to keep him?

@TheHorse Absolutely. I've been helping dogs for many years now. Did few rescues on local dogs and gave them a new loving home. I can't keep all my rescues with me as my job isn't a high paying one. There was even one time local media caught wind of my rescues and i was featured on a local news outlet. I';m not bragging, of course.

No. But my uncle's second dog really liked me. It was a labrador and even when he was puppy he would suddenly turn stand up almost straight put its paws on my shoulders, lick me all over the face and run away...dogs can be so affectionate.

@TheHorse ..Yeah..they are extremely affectionate. :) When it was a small pup it used to climb my lap, and we were playing a lot in the yard. :)

I enjoy a good lick. Labradors tend to be sweet.

OH yes and they like to visit with me also. Today a friend stopped by and Honey went out to say hello then when she came in BonBon went out and said hello to him. I wasn't sure how BonBon would react as she doesn't often get to meet people but she was just fine as she has such a sweet personality. Our guest just wanted to sit outside and talk so that is what we did.

@Hatley I'd imagine cockatiels can bite even worse. Sorry to hear of your traumatic parakeet experience.

@SIMPLYD If you get a breed that doesn't break down often, they're easy to keep.

Taking care of a horse was easier than many people think. I haven't had a dog or cat since I've been on my own.

I am not comfortable when it comes to befriending animals that do not belong to us. Preiti our pet loves people and many visitors have a nice time with her.

I used to long ago when I had lots more local friends. But now, we are all pretty scattered and tend to visit in public places, rather than at each others' homes.

I love dogs. Usually, they are very interested in a guest anyway, and make themselves hard to ignore. I don't usually mind though, I have always had dogs.
