Find a Penny, Pick it Up

Despite the title this isn't really about money. But it is about a penny. Roughly a year ago the store I work at changed management. For 10 years I had worked with the same guy and we had a good working relationship. Same can't be said for the new guy who has been trying to get me out of there. In fact he would have demoted me in January if I had not fought for my job. Meanwhile he (and the person/people he wants in my place) have accused me of being LAZY and not doing my job. This is where the penny comes in. One day I noticed a penny on the floor of the ladies restroom. Normally I pick up every penny I find (because pennies add up to dollars) but I left this one for no real reason. The next day the penny was still there. In the very same spot. Funny...that means the restroom floor was not swept or mopped that night. The day after that the penny was still on the restroom floor, but shifted a little. So either someone kicked it, or the bathroom was mopped but not swept. I left it again, out of curiosity this time... The day after that was my day to close. The penny was still on the floor. (Imigane that). So, I cleaned the restroom that night. Toilets, sink, mirrors, swept and mopped the floor. That penny is now in my penny jar at home. But I can't help but wonder..how long would it have stayed on the restroom floor if the "lazy" one had not cleaned the restroom.

what a shame, I can't say how happy I am to be retired. No more stupid garbage to deal with.

Sadly for me retirement is a long way off. If ever. (Will probably never be able to retire cause between hubby and I both working we still don't make enough money to save) But the ammount of drama in my work life this past year has reached INSANE levels.

I'm kind of curious to know how long that penny would have stayed there. But at least, now, it's another penny for you and your savings jar.

I always hate to have a management change. I always foresee trouble when they announce a change in management. Even if the new management wants me to stay on, I will still leave. No point fighting with those new guys for increment or whatever.

Oh, I've been with the company for 10 years. This guy was BRAND NEW a year ago. Nope, I don't plan on letting him drive me out I just have to outlast him.

That's a very long time not cleaning up. Well, at least now you have an idea.

The penny stayed on the floor for a bit. No one chose to pick it up. It waited for you. Pennies add up and we collect them.

I cannot believe it, so many days without mopping the floor. It's horrible when the working place degrades, it's a sad situation.
