~Are We Friends Here?~

To me, most of us here are friends. We might not have met in person but we comfort each other, we give advice, we make each other laugh, when we need prayers we pray for each other, etc... Is that not what friends do?
I feel like I try to be a good friend to each of you and I just assumed (stupid me I guess) that most of you felt the same in return. So, it made me a little sad when I read a few things that some of you don't consider us friends here at MyLot.
That surprised me! You don't need to meet in person to be a friend. We discuss some really personal things here, and I open up to all of YOU-my friends! I don't feel your strangers at all, or I would never pour my heart out to you.
Well...that's it I guess. What are your thoughts? Do you consider us your friends here? Or are we mere strangers?

@jstory07 Yeah I do too! I was so excited to share the birth of my son here because I feel that close to all of you. I feel the same as you.
It kind of shocks me when someone says we are not friends here.

I think that we are friends in all aspects of the meaning of 'friends'. Some people don't take friendships real seriously. Some don't take what we do here seriously either. I for one am grateful for the relationships I have nurtured here. I am curious as to what happened to make you think otherwise.

@LovingMyBabies ....Maybe she is new. Some just don't know what true friendship is all about. For some it is a purely social thing and ours goes so much deeper.

@celticeagle I feel the same way! I would do anything I could for any of you, and that is a friend. I was wondering about opinions because someone else said in a discussion that she does not think we are truly friends here at MyLot-it confused me because I did consider her a friend here.

I do for sure. And somewhere you know that too.
But then, there are all kinds of people in the real world and so on MyLot to. Some take a while to realize the friendship thing and some have too much of attitude to showcase (for reasons best known to them). I welcome all, with an open heart as always. If we get along all good, if we dont, who cares. The world is always too big for both kinds of people to live and survive happily.

@thesids Yes I do know you consider us a friend. =) It is personal preference your right, I just thought everyone pretty much felt the same way about everyone here. I was wrong, obviously but your right it takes all kinds.

@sjvg1976 I think it's easy to tell if their being themselves by the discussions they write. You know a lot about me by my discussions-that is how you can tell a lot about someone here.

There are some members which I value as friends, and then there are some which are more like passing acquaintances. Nothing against them, but if they don't want to be friendly, then I get that and can respect their decision. I have a hard time being like that, distant, I guess you would call it.

@Juliaacv Yeah I think we all have some closer than others-that is totally normal. Someone said that they have no friends here-which shocked me I think! Especially because the person that said it I thought we were friends, it was weird.

@amadeo Not really a problem per se. Just a couple people said that no one here is their friend.

I think I have friends here but we only know as much about a person as they are willing to share. When you meet someone in person you have body language, facial expressions and tone of voice to add extra information about the person.

@JudyEv I guess I share so much of myself here that I have no problem feeling like others are being themselves and genuine as well. You all know so much about me through my writing, and I feel that most people give their hearts away here in the same way.

We are definitely friends here though it takes some adjusting for people like me who are more used to making friends after having spent time together in school, workplace etc.
I am perfectly comfortable in communicating with all interacting on topics that are even personal. When someone is in trouble I keep them in my mind and send good vibes for their welfare - siva

@Shiva49 Yeah I feel we are all friends too. I am surprised not everyone feels the same though. Maybe it will take them longer to feel like that, I just thought they felt we were friends too.

@dodo19 Yeah I do too, we share so much here and we are always there for each other. The minute something happens in my life, this is the first place I want to share it at because I have SO many friends here to share it with!

I used to think of online chit chat as just that - nothing more - but it IS something more when you really get to know someone. That is something that dawned on me as time went by . . . and I think I've known a great deal of folks here for a long time now - surely it's more than just chit chatting with strangers by now!!! We don't hang out in person, but we sure hang out here . . . that's cool enough for me!

@much2say I feel the same way! I have developed some strong friendships here that feel more like family to me. Hanging out here is way awesome!! I tell y'all more than I tell my offline friends.

Before there were online communities there were pen pals. People used to write letters to people they had never physically met and become friends. So we don't write letters and send them via the postal service. We write to each other online instead. Same thing!

@LovingMyBabies - I agree. I write much better than I talk. Plus I'm home all day. I'm glad for the Internet. I still get to meet people and have a social outlet.

Yes, we're Friends. according to me a friend is the one who supports you, convince you, uplift you and the one who is always there for you.

Well i m quite new here. Bt i like this more than fb and any other site bcz i like writing nd more over dat here v dnt knw each other bt we cn understand's ones feelings nd their state of mind there should not be anything that hrt anyone nd if someone does . Dnt care they don't knw u . No one cn do. Only u cn judge yourslf. So stay blessed and happy
