Under No Circumstances?

There are a number of people here (some of whom I know going back to the B-place or to Persona Paper) who are what I'd call "musically adventurous." What I mean by that is: if someone posts a video of someone they've never heard of, they'll click on it and listen. No, they may not like it, but they will give it a shot. I have a free ticket for my brother for a concert later this month. Free. As in, it's costing him two hours of his time, nothing else. And he said no. Back in the 50s there was a young, up-coming singer with a love of country music who made a guest appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. After his less-than-stellar performance, the Opry's manager, Jim Denny, walked over to him and said, "Son, you ain't goin' nowhere. You'd best go back to driving trucks." There aren't a lot of people who know Jim Denny's name today (aside from country music historians). In contrast, everybody knows the man he shunned. It was Elvis Presley. Someone had to take a chance on him when he was new. That goes for the Beatles (who, at one time, were rejected for a record deal by every record company in the United Kingdom), Led Zeppelin, the Doors, the Eagles, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Adele, and any other "superstar" who's come along. So the question becomes, under what circumstances would you say, "Yeah, sure, I'll take a chance with eight bucks (what @teamfreak16 said he paid to see Brooklyn Funk Essentials) to see this band!" and where you'd say, "No way!" without even investigating the band? I'm sure if someone says, "This is a punk band" and you don't like punk, you're certainly going to refuse. However, if you're a big country music fan and a friend touts a country act you've never heard of, would you pass it up? (And, five years later when they were superstars, would you kick yourself for not seeing them?) Here's one of my all-time favorite bands, the BoDeans:
"Dreams" by BoDeans, 1988.

I'd listen to bands and artists that friends or other people recommended. To watch an artist/band that I'm unaware of, perhaps. If I wasn't doing anything important, I'd go for it.

I'd like to say I would take a chance. I have heard amateurs that I enjoyed more than some of the professionals.

I would never turn down a ticket to see nearly anyone surprisingly enough. Love the video FourWalls. They reminded me of Teddy Boys with their coats..a London term.
