When I lived in California my husand and I went to a restaurant for a meal and after a while a young man came over and said Excuse me but may I speak with you. He said you look just like my mother who recently passed away, may I hug you. I looked at my husband and he nodded okay to me, then the young man proceeded to hug me. His wife came over at that point and told us how much he has been missing his mother and when they saw me he was stunned. They said thank you and went back to their own table, I didn't know what to think when this happened. I can only say if hugging me gave some comfort to the young man then I am glad I could put his mind at rest about his mother.

@hostessman It was very strange as I had not had anything like that ever happen to me before and I really didn't know what to say or do. I think when he hugged me it gave him some peace at last.

wild, I have never seen a family members doppelganger, I used to work with a fellow that looked like a highschool friend (or my memory of that friend as I dont have any photos)

You brought tears to my eyes...maybe because I just posted a discussion about my father dying but I think your post was wonderful, I think you were wonderful for allowing him to hug you and I also think his wife was wonderful to back him up telling you how much he misses his mother...

sometimes in life there is another person who will really resemble us. I worked in the local library I was in my seventies. a little boy looked at me, let loose his moms hand and ran to me hugging me around the news.,"Grandma" he cried"you look just like my granny.' his mom was embarrassed and apologized for him. she showed me the grandmothers picture. I felt like I was going to faint.I looked exactly like her,.we got to talikng and wefound that her mother was a distant cousin to my dad and thus to me. She belonged to the Irish clark family lol

How sad and how nice of you. I wonder if his mom saw this and knows how much she is loved.

@celticeagle It was sad in a way and joyous in another way. I am sure somehow his mom knew how much she was loved. Such a nice young couple they were.

@LadyDuck My husband was a very observant and knowledgable person in those type of happenings so he would encourage me as I was stunned when the young man told me I looked like his mother who had passed away recently.
