Barely Made it

In the US, our lovely tax filing date is April 18th this year. Glad they extended it, because I barley made it as it was. I am usually really, really good, I have done our taxes for all of the 30 years we have been married. I always have them done by the end of February, but this year, I would have fired me! I just got our taxes done, barely before the deadline. I postponed, procrastinated and just plain put them off this year! After I finished them, I realized why I wanted nothing to do with them. We paid more taxes and made less money, it just plain stunk this year. Taxes really burn me up. How did your taxes go this year? Have a Beautiful Day!

I still didn't make enough to file, but my son procrastinated on his for a long time. I finally got them done for him last month. Now he's waiting for his state to come back. He has his federal.

That is the best part, waiting for the money. Usually we have a little bit coming back this year, it is only enough to pay the insurance & taxes.

@just4him true, and we almost had to pay in. I worry that will be the case next year.

taxes were a nightmare for me this year. i truly fear being audited just because they were so funky. had i known they were going to be so complicated, i would have hired someone this year. i finished mine on the 17th, at night, mailed on the 18th.

My grandmother had to pay $49 to federal taxes, but got a refund of $48 dollars from her state taxes. Weird.

I'm sorry tax time was so hard for you. It is awful to slave away all year then have to pay out a lot of it.

@JudyEv same here, I like to give hubby a little grief and tell him he is the procrastinator of the family, but I know we both are and the kids are going to be in trouble because they surely will be one as well.

@mom210 I used to be a terrible procrastinator but I'm improved over the years and try to get organised ahead of time no matter what it is. Doesn't always work!

We always have to file injured spouse so they don't take hubby's portionfor my student loan that is in default. This year he wanted the money right away so didn't file it........the money right away went to my student loan...then he was mad at me about it!

I wash they would at least make the paper simpler. I may not pay less but would not pull out as much hair on the way to figuring it out

That is usually my month to file. I think I was just down about them because things had changed and I was unsure about how it would go for us.

We may have to bite the bullet and get one, it is really getting difficult to figure out now. I used to find it easy but all the recent changes have gotten really hard.

saves you from doing all that paperwork, saves you from the stress involved, that works well. Ours were very stressful this year, plus the added stress of me waiting. I will not postpone them again.

@mom210 , my sister handles that, but, yeah, same here we paid more tax and made less money, very frustrating. And the cost of living gets more expensive each day.

Man that sticks, I am ready for the day they can get the info they need from us on a post card. Every few years you get one of the politicians talking about this dream but it never comes true.
