Polish and hard water

I have a question to ask you all.I have hard water at home and it does not matter if I use good polish or the cheap stuff my polish last about 4 days at the most. Does hard water effect how long your polish lasts before it starts chipping off? Also another question I hear gel polish helps your nails grow is that true?

I've heard gel polish is extremely hard to remove but it does last a lot longer.

The stuff I got comes off easy.It is Sinful Shine with gel tech and I also got the top coat and love them both.I think sometimes that our hard water has something to do with my polish not lasting as well even if I have a top coat on.I like the color and want to get some more soon.
