I schleped through Walmart

Fifty dollar gift paper in my pocket, I hit the building. What to do with my hard earned fifty dollars? First sight: huge cardboard boxes of pseudo food- pizza. Not worth all that time and effort that paper represented.
I admit it. I did buy one doughnut for me. I cruised the produce aisle. Meh. The fruits and vegies looked saggy and weary. Pretty boxes of breaded items in the frozen food section. On to the meat. Protein. I finally settled on some giblets and hearts and very lean burger and skin on salmon chunks and chicken breasts.
Down the aisle cheese waited for me. Not a very good selection. And hey!! The prices was a solid buck and pennies higher than Safeway. Not funny. I selected a two pound block of cheese and a 2 pound bag of shredded cheese anyway.
Up to the check stand: lady toted it all up. I still had about eleven smackeroos to go. I went silly and wandered the plant section: good exercise. And found some pretty annuals and came away owing almost four dollars on my debit card!
My consensus? I may rethink shopping for food at Walmart.

I find that Walmart food prices are a bit more than Aldi. They are a little less expensive than our local grocery stores. We actually have a Price Chopper right next to the Super Walmart that will be opening in August. That should be interesting.

@sallypup the super Walmart in the next state always has great looking produce and a good selection too.

@ElusiveButterfly It isn't just the prices. I wish they treated their produce better and had more selection of fresh food. I did not find any edible citrus, for instance.

@ElusiveButterfly It sounds like I need to move to that next state. I think the Walmart in a town to the north of us has better produce but driving an extra 20 minutes each way is a tad nuts.

You could buy big bags of bull fertilizer for your garden. Wal-mart is full of that.

@Rohvannyn I am over run with burro fertilizer now so forget that idea. I know exactly what you mean, though.
