My Forsythia Bushes Are Blooming

forsythia,

My forstythia bushes are blooming right now, just starting and it is such a delight to see after a long, long winter. I am enclosing a photo of one of them just starting to fill up. We had rain during the night and it completely changed the look of the backyard. I can almost see 40 shades of green and a lot more buds than yesterday. Hard to believe how beneficial a light and steady rain can do. Did you notice a lot of changes in your garden since last night?

@marlina I'm not sure where in Canada you are, but you're still north of me, so that's probably true. I'm one hour south of Boston. So while I'm not in a warm climate per se, our spring has been very warm so far. :)

My gardens are still struggling to push out the green. I loved watching the forsythia bush that grew on my lady's property come to bloom. I would pick bunches of it to place in a vase for her. She loved it.

Haven't been out so wouldn't know of any changes. We have a lot of Forsythia here so it is probably lovely out.

Beautiful. Years ago I read a book about a lady who called her forstythia "April Gold". The sure do add a lot of colour at this time. I haven't seen any out here yet, but notice the grass is getting really green.

Your bush has a lot of colour in it, I like it. I noticed a big change early last week, I think it was due to the warmth we had last weekend. The buds on the trees have burst open, our many different small bushes in the yard have buds on them where there weren't a week ago, and some have opened. Such a beautiful time to enjoy a garden isn't it?

Aren't those leaves? If so, do Canadians use the term "blooming" when referring to leaves? We use it for blossoms. We say, leafing out, when talking about leaves.

They will open up to leaves. English is not my first language and I guess I used the wrong term here.

@marlina That's okay. It is also a possibility that it is used this way where you live. Language is regional.

That is a very pretty bush. Plants benefit so much more from rain than from a hose or watering can. Maybe the water is aerated more but something has to be different.

Maybe it's because there is more of it when it rains than a sprinkling of the hose.

Most plants flowers here are past the peak of blooming, but must admit there is nothing like opening the window in the morning in spring to see all the lovely colours

We don't want our plants to suffer, is it that warm there?
