Recuperating

Both Doodles, the cat, and I have been in the process of recuperating. He from a bug bite on his eye. Me from an entire day in New York City.
We had lunch with my husband's ailing brother and wife, pushed him in his wheelchair around the city to shop, and sat in the park for fresh air and sunshine.
Afterwards, my husband and I walked 9 city blocks to my grandson's tae kwon do belt ceremony, where we met his other grandparents, our son, granddaughter, and their mommy. My grandson amazed us by breaking a board with his foot and was awarded his green belt.
We took separate taxis to a restaurant, but ours stopped off at my son's co-op, where he quickly picked up a cake that the concierge was holding. After dinner, the children were surprised with my daughter-in-law's cake, commemorating the green belt award and yet another ice skating achievement by my granddaughter.
Then we walked them the 7 blocks home, all the while watching our granddaughter roller skating on her new Heelies. We somehow managed to walk another 6 blocks to our car, then drove home through hours of roadwork delay.
I've applied warm wet compresses to Doodles's eye, which he surprisingly allowed. It seems a bit better today.
Yesterday, I was exhausted and not my usual self, so I took a nap, and went to sleep early. I'm human today!

@hereandthere My daughter-in-law made it, and she's usually a wonderful baker, but this one was too sweet for me. Perhaps I was too full from dinner, too.

I walk at home every day, but I think I'm getting too old for these long, long days.
Thank you. He worked very hard for that green belt. On to the next, whatever color it is. I just gave poor Doodles a hot compress. He must like them, because he lets me do it. Hope you had a good day all day, Valerie.

@DianneN It was frustrating, but okay. My Internet didn't want to work today. However, I gave in hoping for better results than I got when I did the same to the laptop, and cleaned the cache and defragged. I really hope it's not just the time of night but it's actually solved the problem. Usually at this time I'm able to speed through the notifications and the comments without waiting ten minutes for everything to stop, load, and move on.

I walk more on my daily morning walks. I wore my cute designer flats, which matched my outfit perfectly. Lol! I think we did too much of everything all at once. And poor little Doodles had his organic salmon and cheese, and my hubby bought him three new bags of treatsies. Unfortunately, his appetite hasn't been affected. Boy, can that boy eat!

The cake is adorable, but I can certainly understand why you were exhausted after doing all that. I hope Doodle's eye recovers quickly!

Wow that's a lot of walking! Those blocks are huge! I remember the last time my husband and I were in the city. We wanted to go to a specific restaurant and were told it was 5 blocks away and he thought that was nothing...until he saw the size of the blocks! lol But it was still a lot of fun since there is so much to see everywhere! :) Glad you've gotten some rest! And I really hope Doodles is much better soon!

Would you believe I'm a walker, and still complained? I think it was due to my shoes! Ouch. I think 10 city blocks is equal to one mile. We were on W 72nd and had to go to W 91st for dinner. That was way too far for the kids and me to walk. Yes, New York is just awesome!!!!!
Doodles is doing a bit better, but hopefully his eye will be completely opened tomorrow. I'm fine now.

Exercise is good for you. You should be feeling great...Just kidding, I know how busy NY is and I wouldn't have enjoyed all that walking...in one day. It does sound like fun though, glad you're back to your old self!
