Am I The Only One Here Interested In Writing eBooks?

4 years ago I left Mylot to pursue writing seriously. I have produced articles, blogposts, essays and other material since then. Just recently, I became a ghost writer for a client. He asked me to create an eBook about quitting smoking. It took me a few days to come up with an eBook. I submitted that and ended up getting paid more than what I would normally earn from articles and blogposts. He gave me another assignment which was to create a tumblr eBook. I did that. Since then I've been hooked on creating eBooks and I have created a lot over time. Whenever I ask people I know if they would want to create an eBook, they usually say it's too hard or too complicated. Some are just plain lazy. Even here on Mylot, people shy away from writing eBooks. Which led me to ask the question: "Am I the only person here interested in writing eBooks?" The money's good and I've managed to survive on my earnings for this long so why won't more people I know get in on the action?

Now, I am a content writer for my nephew's blog. Could you tell me what the difference between article and e-book?

Well, an article can fit inside an eBook. An article is a write up of a certain topic and is usually presented using 250 to 1000 words. An eBook on the other hand is an electronic Book so you will need to have more content in it. More content can be words or pictures. There's a certain number of pages for it to be recognized as an eBook. I usually write an eBook with 5000 words as the minimum target and the maximum at around 15000 words.

@chipesterkhan Oh ...I see. Thank you for your information. I think I can't make an e-book. It is too hard for me, because I do not have much knowledge about something. Congrats! You have success make some e-books.

I'm very interested in writing my own stories and publishing them into ebook form and making money that way. It's just that I have yet to finish a story and publish it! My new years resolution was to publish 50 this year. I haven't done one yet. I'm getting closer!

@OneOfMany One tip I can offer is to read a lot of books bro and then use that as a diving board to create your own books. I usually suffer from writer's block so I go to my garden or take one or two of the dogs out for a walk. and write down your ideas. no matter if it's only just a word or a couple of sentences. those words can be used in the future if you review them from time to time. I hope that helps. I hope to read all 50 short stories you're planning to write in the near future :D

@chipesterkhan I'm trying to master the short story. If I can do that, then I can do one a day and get that number reached! I have hundreds of stories in my head, I only need 50. :D

Hi there! I don't shy away from writing ebooks, nor am i lazy. Mylot is a diversion for me to relax and have friendly conversation with people. I don't even start discussion that much because I'd rather respond to my friends and talk to them! Mylot is my get away from my busy schedule. I am in the office right now and I have just arrived and I'm just checking now whats going on in mylot before actually doing some real work. It's your own passion and you should pursue it but you can't convince people to do it just because they need money and it might help them. There are those who will join that because they want to and they need money. You just have to be patient and probably wait till they ask you.

you're right. I think I wrote this bit hurriedly. I think it was more out of being excited that I was back on MyLot. I should use MyLot for what I originally intended it to be, my blog away from my regular blog and all the other things :D

@chipesterkhan - In today's world, the mechanics of producing an E-book is pretty straightforward such that almost anyone who can use a sensible word processor can make an E-book. However, if they don't know what they are writing about, no one will want their E-book. It's kind of like baking a pie. You can bake the best of pie crusts and choose the finest fruit with which to fill it, but if you throw in a half-pound of salt or seven crushed garlic pods, your pie won't find too many people who want to dine on the thing. Also, if your E-book is all about how to trim the toenails of cockroaches, the E-book is not going to go over too well, either. (smiling as I type on the keyboard...) Hopefully, your post here will awaken the urge to publish in some reader(s). Regards, Gus Kilthau

Oh Man, I agree with you. There are some eBooks that I've written for other people that just aren't that interesting or relevant. Still, the money's good and I need to get paid so I wrote them. I really hope more people come up with their own eBooks

@Marty1 - I'd probably buy both books and send them to various politicians so that they might improve upon their own proposals.

I'm not personally interested in writing books of any sort. But there are a lot of people I know of here that are actually published authors. I'd suggest you need to learn the tag system here and once you do that you'll connect with some authors here. Use the tag search feature to look for things you're interested in.
