Jealousy is a great Motivator

South Pacific cruise 2009

Some of you may remember that about seventeen months ago my sister and I went on a cruise, from Sydney Australia down to Tasmania and return via Melbourne. It was my third cruising experience and my sister's first. She obviously enjoyed it as an hour and a half ago she and her husband left Auckland, New Zealand on a ten day South Pacific cruise. Right now she is probably sipping a cocktail, watching the lights of Auckland disappear as she sails out of the harbour, waiting for dinner. And I am madly jealous. I think my husband may be too. We've both been talking cruises now for the past few days. We probably know every Pacific and Australian cruise happening in the next fifteen months, and the cost of each one. Our passports need renewing and we'll be doing that as soon as we get home from our beach break in a couple of weeks time. Don't be surprised if you hear of our 2017 cruise booked some time before the year is over. For us, cruising is the ultimate holiday and the South Pacific islands are calling us.

@sueznewz2 they are cheap compared to many other holidays, when you consider the cot of accommodation, food and entertainment is included. That's why we like them.

@valmnz Then i hope you can make it too as im so sure you`ll love it.Australia has always appeared too far away for me to vacation. l have 4 weeks holidays in a year and these must be divided into 3,and no way im flying miles and miles for a 1 week holiday, not worth it.

Book a cruise and meet me on the islands of Tahiti. I'll be happy to show you the islands and take you around to some wonderful spots that aren't visited on tours. Have fun and enjoy the South Pacific.

The cruises from New Zealand to Tahiti are very expensive! We've looked at them before. It's not on the more commercial routes.

@valmnz Sorry to hear that. I know it's only a 5 hour fight from here to NZ. I thought it would be simple to find a cruise from there to here that wouldn't be too expensive.

I have always wanted to take a cruise, but I doubt I ever will. The time for me to do things like that was when I was young and then I never would have. So, there you are. I hope you do get to take your cruise and that you pick a good one.

It looks like it. As you know I'd love to do the Ghan railway from Darwin to Adelaide, but my husband doesn't want to. Still, I would never turn down the chance for a cruise

I hope you get there and have a wonderful trip. I enjoy cruising but my husband is not fond of it. He prefers to drive or fly somewhere. I would love to sail by the South Pacific sights on a cruise.

I would love to do another cruise but I guess we'll be saving for our next trip to Ireland. I do wish he'd come home to Australia to live but I know it's not going to happen.
