Update on my Reunion

As I posted awhile back, my grade 8 graduating class of 1976 is celebrating the 40th anniversary by having a gathering at a restaurant in downtown Toronto. That event is coming up next weekend (May 21st). I posted my concerns about the organizer raising the cost from $35 for the meal to $75 to include a donation to a charity. I thought he should have asked us first. I did pay the full amount because I got my Disability Tax Credit money. However, our fellow classmate has changed the charity from a shelter in Toronto to relief assistance for the Fort McMurray fire victims. Since he never told the shelter about the possible donation, no harm no foul. Now THIS was a great idea, another reason why I did pay the full amount. Tens of thousands of people were evacuated and will continue to be away from their homes (if their homes are still standing) for another two weeks as there is no water or power. I will be driving a car to a subway station and taking the train down to the city and staying in a hotel overnight. Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to wear.

I'm glad your reunion is resolving itself and that you are now all set to go - barring something to wear! I hope you have a fantastic time.

It's tomorrow! I'm so excited. Anxiety is setting in too... parking, subway, hotel, how long is the walk to the restaurant from the hotel? Getting home. I hate this anxiety disorder. I want to enjoy this day.

That's a good place for the charity money to go. Glad you got everything worked out.

With donations from people who aren't able to attend the reunion, we are donating $2,000 towards the cause. People donated extra.

I hope you have a wonderful time. It is a good charity to fund at this time. I hope Ft. Mac gets lots of similar help.

From what I've heard they are getting lots of money, but a lot more is needed as it will take a long time and a lot of money to recover from this.

I just cannot imagine what they are going through. I count my blessings that I have not been in such a situation.
