Having Friends in the right places

Something very exciting happened to me yesterday, well in fact its been an ongoing thing for the most part of the start of May month it seems. On my return from a Bowling Game a huge white envelope was waiting for my hubby and myself. Now not many people send us "JOINT-MAIL" but this one was addressed to both our us bearing our first names. That gave a clear indication that the sender was familiar with us and gave rise to more excitement. A British stamp franked marking? . . . now who could that be? A gift from a friend who had enrolled us into "The Association of Lighthouse Keepers" who are Keeping Lighthouse Heritage Alive, which gives us membership for a year. As most of you know my hubby and I are keen Lighthouse Chasers and have seen many around the European shores and African coast line, but never in the UK. Once the parcel was unpacked and we enjoyed the pleasures of its contents, my hubby was all abuzz about the Lighthouses and their locations mentioned in the spring "Lamp" issue. We are interested . . . we need to save . . . we need the RAND/DOLLAR to improve . . . . we wish it was a possibility . . . we are interested John!! @ison1 This all came about after John had hear about it on one of the local radio stations in London. He thought of us and had our gift sent all the way to South Africa. Now that is having friends in the right places! I decided to show everyone the back cover of the Lamp Magazine as I thought it gave a variety of Lighthouses to visit in Scotland. The membership card Lighthouse is in the one at the bottom right hand side - in front of white cliffs. So have you received a surprise gift lately that has uplifted your spirits ? Tell us about it!

@Inlemay - Good Friend - It is very good to receive a welcome gift such as the bright lighthouse gift you and your husband received in the mail. At my own stage in life (o-l-d-e-r than dirt), getting anything, even the bad stuff, is a blessing. The good stuff makes you smile and have wonderful thoughts. The bad stuff makes you sit up and take notice and, perhaps, even have a thought.

@Inlemay - and then, when you are done eating the cake, you look down at the plate on which the cake sat before you ate it, and you see the crumbs. Yes, a very crummy cake it was that you just put inside of you. Ah well...

Saturday - Yesterday my team mate and myself lost in the last end with 1 point - It was all down to the wire - I had a great game and was happy with my bowling. Saturday I play the No 1 Cede in the Province who is also one of our club members - it is a Semi-final knock-out, and all I shall do, is play the best I can.

I got that post card from you the other day, and I got told money was coming from a relative. Plus today I got a headache, which is a good reason to use a sick day, so ok with that one

What a wonderful surprise. I like lighthouses, and have done a lot of jigsaw puzzles with lighthouse in them.

What a lovely and thoughtful gift from your friend. Can't say I've had anything similar - ever! Well, I have a friend in Tunisia who, in the past, has sent one or two things. It's nice to have friends who think that much of you, and know what you like.

It certainly will bring all the excitement to you and your hubbby. If I were in your shoes, perhaps I will not be able to sleep because of too much excitement. Congratulations! That is a very inspiring story. I haven't received a surprised gift lately but travelling once a year is always the one that I consider a great gift already. Just like what you are feeling now, it uplifts my spirit too knowing I will once again go for an adventure. You are very blessed to have friends that can help you turn your dreams into reality.
