Do you stay within the speed limit?

I notice often when I am driving many cars would zoom ahead while I stay within the speed limit and then I get a little influenced and decide to catch up a bit! I hate being the only one so slow and keeping to the limit when everyone is speeding. What about you?

On long distances, I only drive a comfortable 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. It saves on fuel too.

I prefer driving faster but don't want to get caught out by the cameras!

@gudheart You can drive faster perhaps because you have wide highways. We only have 2 to 3 lane highways and many drivers and undisciplined so I stay on the safe side by not driving too fast. Anyway, fast or slow, I will still arrive at my destination.

What's the ratio of your gas consumption? When I drive at 80kmph my ratio is 13:1. When it's 20kmph it's about 11:1. When I drive at 60 it's 15:1. I always speed up. Unless there's a traffic jam.

Depends where I am. In town I stick to the limit, on the highway I know from experience you can go 9 miles over the speed limit without getting a ticket. So I have cruise control and I set it at 9 over the speed limit and just enjoy the trip. Of course I have to slow down if traffic gets in the way but I love the cruise control, that allows me to speed but never too much....

@gudheart If you have it in your car you should. You set it when you get to the speed you want to stay with and if you touch your break it ends the cruise. It a miracle for me. I always seemed to over the speed limit, "my foot is heavy", now its not. I only use it on the highways, the wide open spaces, never in town.

I don't drive - but I have to say my husband never speeds...never. He is the one everyone passes (they go way over the speed limit).

I don't have a car anymore, so I'm not longer a menace on the road (LOL), but when I did, I was very careful about the speed limit. I won't lie and say I was never a speed demon, but I rarely was the one passing everyone else. And towards the end of my driving days, I was a very careful driver because we'd had too many serious accidents in the area.

@gudheart The big thing is staying in control of the vehicle. If you find that you're ever going so fast and you feel like you're losing control, get into a slower lane and slow down a bit. Then you're fine.

nothing influences me, I usually drive slow, I believe it not the driver who has to be comfortable, but it's the person sitting with you who should feel safe and comfortable, and if you are driving it's always your responsibility to make other comfortable.

It is when they are all overtaking me or right close behind me trying to make me drive faster that influences me.

Here the traffic rules become to be strict and I really like it. And if you speed the limit, then it is easy for you to lose your license. This is why we have to obey the traffic rules and drive carefully.

Yes/no depends on the situation. There's some people who zoom fast just to brake. I'll drive with the speed but if they're going too fast and the car behind me is up my tush, I'll change lanes unless I know I'm going significantly more than the limit then I won't. They can go around me then. Some speed at incredible unsafe speeds.

Most often I am a law abiding citizen, but ever so rarely I listen to loud music which makes me go faster - I blame the music

Depends on where it is. Usually on the freeway I go about 5 over depending on how traffic is. I always see folks that arr gong MUCH faster than the speed limit. I always fear they will get in an accident.
