What do you think if girls can't have long hair in high school?

Since my son will go to high school in this September, so I start to learn more about it. Actually I feel in shock that today the high school doesn't allow the girls to have long hair. In the past it was OK if the girls to keep the long hair as long as they tied up as the pigtails.
Although the school wants to children to pay more attention to the study and focus on it. Therefore they have such a rule. But somewhat I think it is a little cruel for girls.

I didn't have any choice regarding my hair. My religion doesn't permit me to cut it. lol But I think it's not right to make such rule. What does hair have to do with their attention span anyway?

@youless Now that is still ridiculous. Do you think there aren't people who like girls with short hair?

Yeah it may seem cruel but it's a policy that everyone has to observe.

It is a little cruel but maybe it stops the boys from losing their focus and the girls from spending so much time to care for their hair.

Wow, that is the age when girls are getting very vain, and the school bans them from having long hair!
It sure is a killer to their vanity, but I am sure the girls will find ways to be vain!
Perhaps it is a good idea, but the girls will have to suffer for a few years and then they can have long hair all their life.

Thanks for the post. Yes, such rules should not be there in schools. People keep hair out of their own interest.

@sathviksouvik Here the school will not only have uniforms, but also the students must wear the same shoes. So they will not compete to each other by the dressing.

I am fine with this, as we were not allowed to keep long hair when I was in high school too. I was just in Junior 1 (first year in high school), we were still allowed to keep long hair. I can still remember some of my friends who keep long hair purposely woke up more than half an hour earlier every morning, just to tie her hair. I was thinking, it's quite troublesome. I would rather sleep more.
Perhaps I have always been a lazy person.

Why would having long hair matter in high school? I can maybe see if they were in grade school that it might be distracting but it just seems a little extreme. I cant grow my hair long anyways but I feel like a girls hair make her feel beautiful..

They probably want girls to look like boys. That is the way society is going. And how long is long? Will there be a scissors patrol to catch girls with hair a little too long? The schools are getting too intrusive in the student's lives.

It is cruel to the girls. You mean they have to chop their hair?
