Bringing Jack home.

Okay first let me say that I got my dog off craigslist, but that doesn't mean it's always the best place to choose a dog. In a way he was a scam and it too a long time to get him the way he is now. If you're going to get a dog or a cat then I would advise going to a shelter and finding a sweet little guy to bring into your home. When I saw Jack's ad I was seventeen and had been begging to get a dog for a while. I saw him and instantly it was love. He was all pretty and had his big brown eyes... Well you can see that from the picture he is very sweet looking. So I begged my mom and when she said yes I made contact with the owners. They wanted to meet in a target parking lot. I thought it was odd, but mm... Okay. I'll gladly meet wherever to get him. What got was not what was in the pictures. He was matted and hyper and ratty even though the wife said that her husband had just groomed him. They said his name was Jackson and that he was a year and 2 months old. He didn't even know his own name. We originally thought that he was deaf. They'd gotten him as a puppy, but it hair makes grooming a challenge and when he got bigger they thought it would be better to sell him. It took three weeks to get him cleaned up since he was afraid of scissors and then even longer to potty train him since they kept him outside. He ended up having pretty bad separation anxiety. Fast forward to now and he's an eight year old dog that loves being handled and touched and even likes getting his hair cut. I'm so happy that we chose to get him in stead of some other dog.

This is a good example of why you need to be careful of Craig's List, but I sure am glad Jack came home with you.

It sounds like you did the right thing and saved this little guy. I would never think of adopting a dog on craigslist as they are not reliable. I think they no longer allow pets to be sold on there.

we bought our first dog from a pet store, it was a pretty dog. our second was adopted from a taxi driver. the dog looks like shes going to break into pieces anytime soon but it she got so pretty after about six months. your dog is lucky to have you. he looks so neat and cuddly.

He looks such a sweet dog - he is obviously a lot better off with you than with his previous owners.

I'd agree that a shelter would be a better place to get a pet...
