The mandatory postcard hunt

After spending several days here in Malta, I suddenly realised that I had not bought any postcards. This is no doubt due to the fact that sending postcards lost it’s popularity years ago when email and social networking replaced it.
I decided that I should make the effort, otherwise a few of the girls at Mylot would probably form a lynch mob.
Choosing cards was not as easy as I remember from the old days because since they will be collected it was important to find appropriate ones. Fortunately there is a great abundance on sale along the seafront.

@hereandthere I looked at one of those postcards showing the girls from the rear, but when I turned it over it did not show the front.

@Asylum yeah, good thing we can take our own pictures now. from that selection i know i wouldn't like the postcard with women's bikini bottoms. it doesn't give me a glimpse of malta at all!

It is true sending postcards is down and fewer people appreciate them. Why someone would prefer a photo/message on some screen over something you can hold n your hand with exotic stamps is beyond me.

I remember collecting some cards to remember certain places I had enjoyed. Sounds like you were lucky to find some.

@celticeagle Their popularity began to diminish many years ago.

@Asylum And the info on your photo reveals a lot, including roughly where it was taken: "Location guessed from coordinates: Dawret Il-Gzejjer, San Pawl il-Bahar, Malta".
I hope the Maltese weather has been kinder to you than the local soft drinks ;)

Shame they don't go in for the old saucy post cards from yesteryear!

@garymarsh6 That format was the original concept of seaside postcards, which certainly caught on.

@Asylum They were quite funny and a bit near the knuckle but caused quite a titter!

Oh my goodness, a trip without postcards? I bought mine the first day here in Fayetteville! Alas, I will not post some of them until I get home as I don't have my addresses with me! Silly of me as I should have them on my phone. Jumping in for a minute, sneaking time away from the family!

@Jeanniemaries I believe that a postcard should be posted from the place it was bought.

Well that fits with what someone else said about finding them on the beach. Problem is when visiting places that have no beaches. I've yet to enquire on whether our store still has them or not. They used to be on display near the front entrance, but we had a remodel done a few years ago and there is no place for them there any longer if they even exist in our store anymore.
