Why pay more than it's worth?

I was looking at Amazon gift cards on ebay, and noticed that people are paying more than the value of the gift card. Why would anyone do that? You can get Amazon gift cards direct from Amazon for face value, and ship them for free too, so there are no added costs. Why would anyone pay $54 for $50 dollars? That's just a waste of money!

I have wondered too why people do this. It seems crazy to me.

That makes no sense at all. I didn't know they would do that on eBay, but I have seen it happen at live auctions, where people pay awful prices for something they could have bought for less. People are strange sometimes
