The Things Kids Say

Sometimes the things they say just flabbergast you. I couldn't believe this afternoon. My little girl came home from school, looked at me so seriously and said "Mommy, did you have a bathroom in the house when you was little?" Uhm, why yes we did, indoor bathrooms were invented years before I was born. Okay she said. My mom calls she gets the phone next thing I know I hear " Mawmaw, did you have running water growing up?" Geesh, I felt like asking if she thought we were as old as the hills but I didn't that'd just encourage her more. I know asking is the only way she is going to know but where in the world do they come up with some of these questions?

I think in school the teachers touch on some things and the kids get curious so they come asking some really odd questions lol lol

@Hatley Maybe. I asked if they talked about times before we had stuff like we do today and she said no. She was just wondering. Evidently to her we are old. lol

@melissa1024 That's so true! Their view of age is always so funny! I used to work with children and it got to the point that I couldn't wait to be with them just to sit and listen.

@toniganzon Boy, that's the truth. I was minding my own business, working online and she comes out with that. I know my mouth dropped. Good thing I wasn't drinking anything because it would've went everywhere. lol

Maybe in school their lesson was about those early days where the early inhabitants have very different way of living like not using bathrooms. Children really have inquisitive mind. They want to explore and discover They are considered natural born explorers. That's the reason why they keep on asking questions that sometimes caught us unaware or unable to explain properly. Actually, children should be encouraged to ask questions about anything and everything. That's a way of educating their minds and boosting their confidence.

@magallon I ask her if that was what they studied in school, she said no she was just curious. I tell her if she wants to know anything ask that's the only way she will know, but that was very different for her.

And whatever you answer they take as absolute truth. Before I realized that I had accidentally convinced my niece that Doctor Who was real when she asked too many things and I answered with sarcasm.

@CrazyAnimaLady I know I really have to stop and think before I say something or I'm liable to do something like you did with your niece. lol
