The MyLot feature "you might also like"

Many a day while I am reading and responding a brilliant post from the PAST comes up on the featured right hand side of the site - "you might also like". I first time I tapped into one of these posts, I didn't realize that it was dated 2009 - which is a long time ago, however luckily the follower is still current on the site and because I had made a comment on the post, he was able to upgrade the writings to the required legality of the current rules. Some of the writings are from before I started . . . and whats stopping us from enjoying some of the older, good reads? Nothing! So next time you are reading and responding, check to the right side of your screen and see if there is anything on the "you might also like" feature of MyLot! happy reading everyone.

I always ignore the side panel displaying those, but I have responded to very old discussions. It does not matter to me that a post may be 10 years old, just that it appeals to me.

@Inlemay I have done it in reverse. When the site has seemed quiet I have chosen a member and scrolled back through their discussions to find those of interest to me. It sometimes confuses people to find comments appearing on discussions they posted many years ago.

@Asylum I used to do that on Bubblews - there were some followers that I have taken the time to read every one of their 600 or odd posts and leave a comment, and we could only do 5 a day

I have tried some links to old posts to not find them there! I wish those would get deleted off the stuff that shows on the side bars

@Inlemay well, but do they really exist at all? Like were they deleted? or just inactivated?

i think i will just waste my time commenting on featured post on right side of the screen because mostly they are so old.

some reads are good, so one should take a chance and see if the follower is still active

What you discovered is interesting :) That could be a way for renewing ties with old connections who might have wandered off ")

Hi Inlemay! That's an interesting and useful tip. I will do that from now on. I usually just check the discussions with no response so that the discussions that other Mylotters started will not go to waste but now, I will open another window for the suggestions. Thank you! :)

I don't ignore the side panel. What happens is I make a mental note to come back to a title that caught my eye. But I don't usually get back to it after I've visited other discussions. Still! I'm glad the suggestions are there. It's a neat feature.

When I first joined here I asked admin why there were so many old posts there, and was told that they would gradually be replaced as more posts were written - that doesn't seem to have happened.

I think many of the older post writers are back as well, that is why it is important to check to see if the person is back and currently writing
