Drat, it is a school holiday

I have two hospital appointments arranged, one for 27th May and the other for 9th June. My plan was to take advantage of the time between the two to take a short holiday, but that proved difficult. The availability and cost was unreasonable, so I had to abandon the idea.
I have now discovered that the schools are on holiday for a week at that time, which explains the situation. Now I will be considering taking a holiday after the 9th June, but cannot organise anything yet until I know what future appointment dates will be.
Oh well, I will no doubt get away at some time eventually.

When children are on a holiday, I discover that I live in a rich country. Fares go up, air fares and bus fares. All are taken, no matter what the cost. Someone is paying for them.

@marguicha I have to agree, parenting is much more than spending money.

@Asylum I am angry with that. Parents buy anything for their children but spend little time with them.

Is there a reason for the school holiday? We have a three day weekend this week (Memorial Day is Monday), so the roads will be awful from Friday through Tuesday. I'll avoid all the big ones, and stick to side streets if I want to go anywhere. But, I will avoid the beach towns too, since inland tourists will show up. It's wonderful living where people visit when on holiday, except when they do.

@ElizabethWallace There is no doubt a reason for it, but not one that I am aware of.

@Asylum That's odd. You would think it would be a legal holiday, and everyone would know why. Training days are never this long, so that cannot be the reason.

@Curlybobby Try searching for free animated clipart, which should produce results. If you have problems then let me know.

@Asylum Being free when others are tied to work is one of the many benefits of being retired.

I guess prices rise due to school holidays? Hope you find something that fits into your schedule and isn't too expensive when you are ready to book your holiday

That sounds a bit like spring break around here, when schools let the kids go before or after Easter for their break. I'm sure prices are high for flying and other excursions that parents tend to take their kiddies on during those times.
