That Great Idea For a Story

I was on the cusp of falling asleep last night when an idea for a story popped into my head. I thought "yep, I'm gonna write that" and fell asleep. Never fails when I wake up and can't remember what the heck the idea was. I just know it was a good one or at least I thought it was in those moments before going off to dreamland. There are those stories that do stick in my mind and I can recall them later and some that basically fly the coop, never to be thought of again. Makes me wonder if the ones we forget might be better off forgotten no matter how great we thought them to be at the moment.

I think that those ideas that we have just before drifting to sleep are most of the time, better forgotten.

We tend to forget things unknowingly and remember again when another event happened and is related to it.

Oh, maybe it's a good story to write. Next time be sure to write it down first before going to bed.

It could be that they're not worth dredging up - but if you can't recall them, you'll never know if they were worthwhile or not.

I don't know, I sometimes dream something that I would like to remember but it often slips away.
