Big family

Who has a big family? I have 5 siblings. Three of which are boys and two are girls. The eldest is a 32 y/o male who is actually my half brother. We met him just 6 years ago although we've known about him even when we were young. My father has 10 siblings. My mother has 11. Last year, we just had our first family reunion with our relatives from my father's side. To say it was crazy is to put it mildly. So many families stayed for a week in our house and in one of our neighbor's room. Yes, we had to rent a room to accommodate everybody, all rooms were jam packed at night. During the day. we could be found strolling somewhere or simply having fun playing games outside the house. It was so memorable we're all looking forward to having another one. Do you guys also have big families? When do you say a family is big? In the Philippines, so many people have big families. How about in your country?

I come from a big family; 7 boys, 2 girls. I have 11 children. My decision to have that many is an exception. In the USA, an average family will have about 3 kids. Although in certain parts of Texas, a family might have 5 kids. Bug families are nice if everybody gets along.

@dudibelles - My crew would be considered small next to a few other people I know. There was this one lady, when I asked her how many children she had she just laughed! Seems like every time I saw her there was another one of her children with her, that I had never seen before! I'm like: Where are they all coming from??

@cmoneyspinner Hahaha. I'm amazed by those kind of people. I mean, just the pain of giving birth alone can be discouraging for some (like myself, I am not married nor do I have any kids though) but it doesn't seem to scare them :-)

Wow, 11 children. I just remembered my father's old friend, He has 17 children. I can't even remember all their names. haha. About getting along well, yes, I agree. It could be loud and crazy at times but it's fun :)

I think Americans start viewing a family as "large" when you hit 3 kids. I have 6. So I'm considered a weirdo.

I have 6 siblings and I am the eldest and the only Princess of 5 kings. Mom has 10 siblings and Dad has 8. So I guess we belong to the Big Families in the Philippines. :)

Do you get along well with your half brothers and half sisters? :-) We were so thrilled when we met our half brother, he came to our doorstep with his one year old son and after the first meeting they visit us from time to time :-)

I am the eldest among seven kids. Both of my parents come from large families, too. I always get that reaction of surprise whenever people learn about our large family. Sometimes I am annoyed whenever they make fun of it like it is funny at all. I am a Filipino, by the way.
