This Day......

I'm on the nervous side. Tomorrow is my colonoscopy. Everyone says it's today's prep that is the worst and that the actual procedure is a breeze. No food today, only a liquid diet....and nothing red. I had lime jello for breakfast. I can't drink my Dr Pepper since it's dark, but lucky for me the Friday Freebie last Friday at Dillon's was a 2 ltr of Mist Twst soda. So, I can still have some soda today. My daughter was supposed to buy some ice pops but she didn't get that done and now won't be home until after 6 pm from work :( We are heading out for Bible study in a bit. We aren't sure if this is our last week for it before we take a summer break or if we will meet again next Tuesday. We've been studying Proverbs and I will continue that on my own once we break. There are Tuesdays that I miss because of sewing club and then Tuesdays that we leave early for ladies lunch. We have to take Willo and Jacob with us since they are out of school. I guess how much I am online and working today depends on that bathroom time....or if I even feel like sitting here at my computer. If nothing else at least I do have my 2 tablets that I can take in to the bedroom with me. My laptop I can't because the wi-fi chip is out :( Keep me and my nervousness in your thoughts!

I've had a colonoscopy twice. The prep is the worse. I no longer can drink Gatorade. Gags me.

When I had one it was such a 'breeze' that I thought it had not been done. I even told the nurse this when she said I could get dressed! A pap scan or a mammogram is much worse.

I do not like Gatorade to begin with. They gave the option of mixing the Miralax with apple juice so that is what I am doing.

@marsha32 I am getting grossed out just thinking about the prep. I wouldn't be able to drink that much apple juice. Not a favorite either.

I have had a flex sigmoidoscopy and I was awake when they did that and it was so painful. I think they put you out for the full colonoscopy though which is a bonus for you :-) The only prepping I had to do was 2 fleet enemas which was not pleasant at all but compared to the procedure it was cake. I wish you good luck

that sounds like a pretty different procedure? Everyone has told me that the prep is so much worse and the procedure is a breeze. Prep hasn't been near as awful as I feared it would be. I'm just hoping fr normal results tomorrow.

@Castlerock34 I could feel it with the sleepy anesthesia that they give....I complained so much about the pain that they didn't finish.

@marsha32 Yeah I didnt go for the full colonoscopy just partial and they dont knock you out, I felt every turn the scope was making through my bowels and I could see what they were seeing on a TV which was cool and bad at the same time because mine was not normal, it was one of the worst experiences of my life probably top 5

It won't be all that bad once the procedure is over, I will keep you in my thoughts.

My husband had a colonoscopy and I remember he had a list of allowed food and banned food to follow for 3 days, but he was allowed to eat the day before. Only white meat, no fruits or veggies until noon and only liquids in the afternoon.

My mom says they have really changed the prep since she had her last one 5 years ago.
