Like a Speckled Hen / myLot

In anticipation of a cold winter ahead here in New Zealand, I've just bought myself a new warm winter coat. I've had rain coats and jackets over the years, but never bothered too much about a coat. But early indications are this coming winter will be cold. In the past I've usually favoured a black coat, dark and boring on a cold day, but they are easy to brighten up with a colourful scarf. This time, however, I wasn't in the mood for black when I went shopping. I've come home with a coat that makes me look like a speckled hen. Now I just need this rain to stop, so I get the opportunity to wear it.

I'm going to a school jubilee in July, so needed a coat for part of the outdoor celebrations. Can't have them thinking I don't look smart

@TheHorse no, autumn has been amazingly warm and sunny until this week. Even today, now the southerly has moved on, was rather warm in spite of the rain.

Well, funnily enough, the winter wasn't that cold and I only wore it a few times. But it was nice and warm when I did.

yes,I can see tweed.Tweed was very fashionable back them.Mike had a lovely sport jacket and I had a tweed coat.

There are rain coats and keeping warm coats, this year I need both! My rain coat dates back to when I was teaching full time and had to do playground duty and such

I would love to live where I needed a really warm winter coat. I have one of sorts but don't often get the chance to wear it. And no excuse to buy a really nice one. I love yours - speckled hen or not. :)

speckled hen is a lovely way to describe it.I dont like dark/black coats and jackets in winter, makes everything more gloomy than it is already.l do go for lighter colors.

Snap - I just bought a winter jacket last week. I've taken it out twice already when we had that cold snap. It'snot my usual plain black either, it's a dark navy plaid thing.
