Is everyone ready for US elections to be over?

Is there anything more fun than adults telling lies, calling names, doing all the things we tell children not to do because these things are wrong? No one ever seems to enjoy an election year and this one seems to be a headache so far. We don't see much TV here (by choice) but enough already!

It's not much better in Australia - and we have these obnoxious, rude people ruling our lives.

Terrible to realize, isn't it? Rude and obnoxious and they are in charge.

@PatZAnthony I don't think ours are as bad as what we've been hearing from US candidates but they can still be quite personal.

Trash-spewing among candidates also happened in our country before the election. I guess it does not speak well of those candidates who do this.

I don't know about “everyone” but I've gotten to the point where I don't care one way or the other. The whole campaigning process for both parties has become a drudgery and boring. Lately, less than a minute into any news report about the election and I've already lost interest and tuned it out. Seems like my “attitude” has been shaped into what's probably the way most Native Americans feel about elections. I mean for them … What difference does it make who the POTUS is? It's not gonna change their lives that much! I think that. I don't know it for a fact because I don't know very many Native Americans. But I sometimes wonder what they think every time the election cycle comes around. Majority of the population be saying: “Oh! A new president is going to be elected!! Maybe NOW! … things will change for the better! American Indians be like: “Yeah whatever!”

We have never witnessed any great changes that helped the group we are in, so not expecting anything this time either.

And I thought that the election for Governor of Louisiana in 1991 between David Duke and Edwin Edwards was dirtier than mud in the Mississippi River.

@PatZAnthony As in everything else in life, politicians are oblivious to the people.

I find the American elections to be an overly complicated and drawn out process. Here in Canada, an election campaign takes roughly 2-3 months from beginning to end. Since our leadership conventions only happen as called for by the specific parties, we just get on with the business of the various parties battling it out.

Keeping it simple would be a nice thing here. Don't think we will ever see it!

I've definitely heard enough and I don't live in the US nor do I have television at home.

It is sad, to say the least. Say what you will of people like JFK, Reagan, Nixon, but, at least, no matter whether you agreed or not with their politics, they behaved like adult men, statesmen and professionals. They portrayed leadership and made you feel like someone was 'in charge'. I'm afraid that those days are long gone.
