Do You Bring Gifts/Tokens When Visiting Friends?

It has been customary in our country to bring a gift or any token like food when visiting a friend. This is common when friends have not seen each other for so long. For me, I still appreciate even if they do not bring something. What is important is the personal encounter; the laughter and sharing of personal news, etc. Do you also bring tokens when visiting your friends or relatives?

I think carrying any gift or something is reffered as etiquette or may be trend... But where there is real love, it never matters you carry something or not...

Very true, it does not matter if you have something for the host or none, because your precious time is your best gift.

Only if it is someone I haven't seen in a long time or we make plans for a meal. What is important is the interaction with the friend

I agree, the most important thing is the personal interaction specially if the friend rarely visits you.

If we haven't seen the friend in a while or if it's a holiday or special occasion, they might bring a gift. But if it's a buddy or pal who stops by regularly and is at your place so much they're practically a part of the family, then a gift is not expected. We expect them to come in and go straight to the kitchen and check the pots or refrigerator to see what they can eat. Hey! Like I said: They're at your house so much, they're family!

I like friends like that; the one who will go straight to the kitchen and check what is there to eat! ha ha! They are surely welcome because the host will not bother much on what to offer him for that visit.

Yes, it is common for us to bring something like food or fruits when visiting friends or relatives we seldom see. Thanks, @thelme55.

It's more of a personal habit than customary here.

We used to do that. I don't see it happening as much. We're just glad to have visitors when we do. We live so far off the beaten path that we don't get many.

But it is tiring to have so many visitors too often. It is appreciated if they come only during important events.

Yes, I bring some tokens, foods when visiting friends or relatives so that when we made chitchat, we can eat the foods together while doing such.

It is very common among us, because we enjoy eating together with people we value so much.

I bring self-made jam or self-made photo postcards. These gifts are always welcome.

At times, we appreciate even they bring nothing; just the meeting and his precious time is enough.
