If someone just coming out asked you the best way to tell your parents that you are gay, what advice would you give?

I would say if it is that hard to tell them maybe you shouldn't tell them just yet. Or go about your buisness and let them figure it out, they will when they're ready.

My best advice would be to wait until you are out of the house! My mom had a nervous breakdown and went to the hospital after I told my parents. They still don't accept me for who I am. Wait until you're not dependant at all on your parents incase you get kicked out.

be frank after all they are the only family near and dear ones...just tell them that you think the other way.

When I came out I gave it to my mother directly. She didnt like it I could see, but she tolerated it until I was 16 (now she makes it perfectly clear she hates it and hopes it is just a phase) I told her when I was 14 Im now 26 (almost). She told me at the time not to tell my father, or he would put me 6ft under. That annoyed me so much I marched into the front room and told him, to which I got " I know, I could tell when you were smaller". He doesnt like it either but he knows it cant be changed, meanwhile 12 years on my mother is still hoping it is a phase
